Looks good to me. The barrel profile is interesting. I'd like to see them offered with a standard spike's BCG, not the nickle boron.

I bought the 16" version of it, the barrel profile made sense to me, so I figured what the hell.

I'm not sold on the need to the nickel boron BCG, while it wipes clean easy enough, I don't see a significant advantage over a standard one. I would rather spend the money on mags or ammo.

I have just under 1000 rounds through mine so far, 1/2 WPA and 1/2 XM193. Accuracy is good enough for killing steel at 300, I haven't shot paper since I sighted the ACOG in. Function has been perfect so far, I'm not a cleaning Nazi, I have wiped out and relubed, hit the chamber with a brush once.

My other guns are allassembeled from BCM and Noveske parts with a factory LMT as well, I'm not usually a middle of the road buyer, I learned that lesson early on in my shooting hobby ( damn CMMG & TOS mis information ). So I was a little worried about buying this upper.

But I'm pleasantly surprised so far.

If they offer this upper without a permently attached flash hider or comp I would buy one. But it doesn't look like that's going to happen, so I think ill be getting a BCM BHF 14.5" middy instead.

Agreed, you can find a Noveske Light Recce Basic for around that price.

Yea it hurt when I paid $629 for mine.

That's another reason I wish they would have went with a standard BCG or allowed a BCG delete and I could have bought a BCM group.

Yup. I'm not saying they're not worth it, it's just overkill for me personally. Same goes for the FH. Just a boring $25 A2/A2X for me thank you. I actually "splurged" on a 5C1 recently only because I couldn't find an A2X.

I wouldn't hesitate to get the middy if I did in fact want the BCG and FH it comes with . All I've seen from them is top quality parts and immaculate workmanship.

not defending spikes but that price does include the FN CHF barrel, Dynacomp, Magpul midlength HG, fancy BCG, charging handle, buffer (whatever you may think of the ST-T2 notwithstanding) and free shipping.

pricing that out against "standard" components is about $465 upgrade over a basic upper. that means they're selling the basic upper receiver group at $235 as opposed to $399 for someone else's for just the receiver, ejection port cover, standard barrel, and FSB.

if you think this is a good deal, and whether you care for the CHF barrel, Magpul, and Dynacomp upgrades, that's up to you, but the math is there...
