A quality barrel from Compass Lake Engineering in Florida (Frank and Theresa White) with a new bolt headspaced to the barrel combined with a quality free-float tube (again, Compass Lake for a Service/Match rifle or a DD for an SDM type gun). Anything else (triggers, sights,) will NOT make the gun more accurate only help YOU as the shooter in your job.

Good ammo helps, BlackHills is the standard by which most others, including handloads are judged.

There are others that make nice stuff but CLE makes, without a doubt exceptionally accurate and reliable equipment.

I've got Douglas, Ljila and Kriegers chambered by CLE -- they do excellent work -- better than Novekse - not sure -- my barrels by him are just as good.

My guess from my sampling would be six of one - half dozen of another.

In most cases the equipment will outperform the shooter...

    You paint them.

SS barrels do not require "lube." What they do require is that you clean them more often then a Chrome Moly/Chrome lined barrel.

So what are the pros & cons of ss,cl & cm barrels? Any kind of paint? Or special paint?

SS gives you superior accuracy, but does not handle heat as well as a 4150 chrome lined barrel will.

So what it comes down to is if you want accuracy, go SS. If you want longevity, go CM/CL.

Paint can be Krylon, KG, Cerakote, Ionbond, Melonite, etc.
