    M&P Compact Concealment

Ive read a good many threads on here and have tried a few options i have but haven't really found anything that works for me. About the only spot I've found that works is a clip draw at about 5 oclock. I can get a pretty good strong hand draw with it but i wonder about issues with the trigger guard being open and it slipping off.

I'm still reading over the appendix carry thread but just from moving the clip draw around i think i prefer the 5 oclock position. When i try to carry in about the 3 or 4 oclock position i get some very noticeable printing. I'm skinny so i don't have much room to hide it and large shirts just look sloppy with my body size.

I read where some of you said camelback made a couple backpacks that may work and that's an option ill consider for jogging, running and hiking. I don't know if the clip draw will hold hold with that much movement. I can't bring myself to use a fanny pack and those chest packs just say gun to me.

So given all that do any of you have any suggestions?

    I am 6' 4" and 185lbs

    I have a M&P 45 mid and M&P9c that both print noticably at 3/4 oclock with a normal t-shirt.

I tried carrying my full size 1911 for a kicks one day at 3/4 oclock and not even my wife knew it was there until she gave me a hug around the waist.

I think that extra bit of width on us lanky people really hurts, I'm now looking to get a commander or officers size 1911 for ccw

If the "clip draw" is what I think it is, a metal clip without the use of a holster, I would seriously reconsider this form of carry. An M&P, especially the one without the manual safety, rely on the integral safety built into the trigger. Shoving this gun into the waist band without the protection of a holster is scary (at least for me). Part of your clothing materials could get inside the trigger guard and come in contact with the trigger, bad things will happen.

Like another member suggested, a Blade Tech Nano is a great and simple rig for your application. Leave the novelty clip draw in the junk pile.

+1....It amazes me how people will spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a carry gun, 20-30$ on carry ammo, then magazines and then skimp on the holster, which really is the most important part.

If your really skinny, then appendix could work perfectly for you.

I like the looks of those holsters. Thanks for pointing me that way.

Funny you mention the compact 1911. That used to be what i carried. I had a officer frame with a 4 1/4 barrel and it carried pretty well at about 4. The width is the problem i think too. I wanted to make the switch to 9mm. To be honest even though the 1911 felt great in my hands i shoot MUCH better with the 9mm M&P compact so that became my carry pistol.

I wasnt wild about the clip draw leaving an open trigger so i really didnt ever carry it much like that. I just wasnt comfortable carrying like that.

SOB can be a pretty dangerous way to carry....and I really can't think of any advantages to overcome the large numbers of disadvantages.

I've been using the Comp-tac Minotaur IWB Holster for a few years now. I'm 5'11, 225lbs and wear it at the 1:30/2:00 O'Clock position, with a T-Shirt or Polo, here in FL. I cut off the bottoms of the belt clips so I could be more comfortable while sitting. No worries about printing. I normally wear a Large, but wear XL when carrying. You may want to go up one shirt size or do what a lot of folks do, T-Shirt tucked, IWB, then an outer shirt open or with one button secured for better concealment.
