Post Advantage Arms kit vs Ruger 22/45

I want to get good reliable .22 pistol. At first I wanted an AA kit for my Glock 17 but now I'm wondering if I should just get a Ruger 22/45 instead.

I like the idea of being able to run .22 through a Glock so evrything functions like my carry gun but I am concerned that it may not be as reliable as the 22/45.

The 22/45 has all the controls where they would nornally be for most pistols so it shouldn't give up much to many features compared to the AA kit.

    What do you guys think?

Buy the AA kit it will help your Glock skills and thats what youre after right?

Shoot the Remington Golden Bullets or CCI Mini Mags and its very reliable. The Ruger is a PITA to break down compaired to the AA kit also.

My AA kit for the 19 is the best investment I have made in a long time, its already paid for itself and my Glock skills are getting better and better.

I agree with Dobie. Shooting the same frame/trigger pull is better than using the Ruger, it's meant for a 1911 shooter.

Con is the weight isn't the same but that's the only problem I've found. I have two AAs that I bought in January. I practice at least twice a week. Run 50 rounds thru the AA then a couple of mags of full size range ammo, followed by a mag of carry ammo.

Here's a link for doing a polishing job on the AA. If all you do is polish the barrel/feed ramp it will be good enough.

Nephrology, copy this link and check it every couple of days. That's how I got mine. Looks like they have
G20 21 kits in stock now.

There used to be two kits listed Target and LE. I always assumed one had target sights and one was Law Enforcement??? Just a guess.

Now the LE kits come with Glock factory adjustable sights and I haven't seen the Target model listed this year.

From what I read on another forum AA discontinued the target kit. I haven't seen them available for quite a while.

To the OP, my AA kits have been 100% flawless with zero issues and they are also very accurate.

the ruger is nothing like your glock..
i sold my mkII and hope to someday replace it with an AA kit. for now i just shoot lots of 9mm....

that said, ruger MK pistols are very accurate and reliable. worth owning in their own right.
