    Remington 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD Build In-Progress

I decided to start a Remington 700 .308 build, and wanted to start a thread to detail the progress of the build. I started out with a new Rem 700 SPS Tactical .308 AAC-SD model. As most, if not all of you know, this model comes from the factory with a 20" Threaded, 1:10 Twist, Varmint Contour Barrel, and a Hogue stock. I opted for the AAC-SD model, over the regular SPS Tactical, for the threaded barrel. It was only $50 extra, and will make things easier when it comes time to add a suppressor.

Cool. I miss the mushy soft recoil pad of the Hogue that I took off of mine. But the HS stock is so much better.

    Nice rifle and modifications.

Another important feature of the AAC-SD model, at least to me, is the 1:10 twist rate vs the 1:12 of the regular SPS Tactical.

Have you considered adding a 51T Blackout suppressor mount to it?

I have a similar build nearing completion. Although I kept the NF scope and rings of of the FN SPR I sold, and used a Larue 20MOA base. All that is left is for Rifle Dynamics to finish inletting the HS stock for my CDI bottom metal that takes AI mags.

I even have the AAC 762SD with me awaiting the rifle!!!

What do you like about the 1/12 My LMT is 1/10. My rem 700 is 11.25. And I have looked around at various guns in 308. It seems to depend on barrel length and who knows what else for their decision.

Why do you like 1/12? Why do others like 1/12. Marks gun shoots almost exactly like mine and his is the SPS. Only thing that makes his better is the " puller"

I'd get the Breakout. Pappabears gun has that. It's helpfull with recoil with unsupressed shooting.

How is the blast from the brakeout? I shot my buddy's 20 inch RRA 308 with a JP brake and from behind the trigger [with soft ear plugs] it was pretty bad.
Good judgment comes from experience. And experience… well, that comes from poor judgment.

Good point. I love my breakout mount too though it is a bit loud without a can on.
