    H&K P30L vs Sig P226

Between the two Pistols, which one do you prefer and why?

I currently have a Sig P226 9mm Enhanced Elite and it is very accurate it fits my hands pretty good. the only thing that really bothers me is the location of the slide stop on the frame. the slide never stays back open on last shot because my thumb is always on it.

I thought about getting the HK P30L. I'm a big HK fan.. I've held it before and it feels really great in my hand but never really shot it..

If you have trouble with the slide locking back due to your grip on a P226 I would suspect that the problem would be worse on a P30. The slide release is lower and more prominent on the P30. When I transitioned from the 226 to the P30, I had more occurrences of that issue. I've since trained myself out of it.

I like them both honestly! I chose the P30 (regular length) as I like to conceal carry. But a good friend I work out at the gym with has something like 6 or 7 SIG P226's and I understand why he likes them so much. He has a Navy edition on that has the SEAL Trident on it that I would like to get my hands on whenever he decides to sell it.

I've used and worked on Sigs for the last 15 years. In the last few years I've used the P30 off and on. No question, P30.

Superior design, superior materials, superior reliability, superior durability, and superior performance. The P30 is one of the few pistols that I was able to pick up completely cold, and shoot it better in a course of fire that I could my P226 had I had trained with for 10 years.

Try looking at Todd Green's 100,000 round endurance test on the P30. I work for the Department of Interior, and in the last five years we have purchased over a thousand new Sigs to add to our old inventory. We have had excessive problems with these new guns to the point that the agency as a whole is pushing to get out of our 20 year Sig contract.

Dude are you just busting our balls or are you serious? You literally come on here once a week and ask us to compare two random guns that you're thinking about buying. I don't mean to be a dick, but there are other, more appropriate message boards to go to for that than M4C.

HK hands down as well. I've never use the P30, but both my father and I have carried HKs with good experiences.
My unit is switching to M11s so hopefully I'll have some first hand experience with Sig Saur to compare.

See the attached pic, it is a suggested grip for fighting with a P226, modeled by Kyle Defoor.

I have trained myself to shoot every pistol like that as I can be assured to not ride the slide stop no matter what pistol I'm using.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to check and see who's posting. It seems like every comparison he posts is Sig versus something else. Every time we give him advice the majority opinion is to go with the non-Sig option. Some of the people in this forum have decades of firearms experience, particularly with Sigs and the advice is always the same.........avoid the modern day Sig.

This may be one of those times when he is just going to have to learn things the hard way. Encourage him to buy the Sig, and he will love it for the first few thousand rounds(that is if he doesn't get the 10% of new Sigs that are lemons right out of the box). After that, he will experience excessive parts wear, possibly even parts failure and if he doesn't jump ship then.......he's a bonified fan boy.
