Colt took my PO for the SP901!!!

That's right boys and girls, Colt took my purchase order for the SP901 and they SHOULD be shipping it before the end of the year!!

I think people will also like the price on the guns.

Do you have a ballpark figure you are comfortable with?

Yes, but not one I can say in public. I am pretty confident that the Colt will be at least $100 cheaper than LMT's offering AND you will be able to use your 5.56 upper with the lower.

Prsuming you mean a conventional/standard 5.56 upper, how would that be accomplished?

Or is there some kind of adapter piece that goes into that way out of position to work with a regular upper pivot pin on the lower shown above?

As I understand it, there is a takedown pin in the lower receiver at the position indicated by the red circle. This engages the standard AR15 upper receiver forward takedown pin lug. Then, you insert a magazine well block (included with the rifle), and you can shoot your AR15 upper with AR15 mags on the SP901 lower.

    Ah, OK, that makes sense.

I couldn't work out how it would be capable of uppers swaps without some trick part or another.

I'm pretty excited about this, just one more thing to save pennies for.

Hopefully we will see multi-caliber accessories/adapters quicker than the ACR.

No excuses, but I honestly haven't been paying very close attention. The photo would seem to indicate that the gun might feature a certain amount of ambidextrous functionality. Is that actually the case?

I like the idea in concept but does the thing still weigh something like 9.5 lbs? If so, not interested.

    Colt's site says "Ambidextrous Controls".
