Loose HK P30 backstrap and magazine follower wear.

I'm not sure if these "issues" are normal or not.

The small and medium back strap are loose and have an audible click and there is play on each side. The large back strap fits snug so I'm not sure if the looseness is normal or not on the smaller back straps. The panels themselves do not move.

I made a video so you could see what I mean:

The second issue is magazine follower wear. If you look towards the front you'll see a gouge and a scrape. I'm not sure if this is normal.

    What do you guys think?

My gun's medium backstrap does shift and click if I force it. I do notice it infrequently during dry fire, never during live fire.

As for the magazine wear, it happens. I have 27k rounds through my seven practice magazines that I run through my P30 and P30L. I have never cleaned them, they all have that wear spot, I have five total malfunctions on both of my guns. I do not consider any of those to be magazine related.

Oh, and both guns stopped malfunctioning after ~5k rounds, so the magazines are only getting more "worn".

    You're good to go.

I had a loose medium back-strap on my LEM P30, which when swapped onto my DA/SA P30, was also loose. Although it did not effect the function of the pistol I contacted H&K and ordered a new medium back strap; which upon fitting to the gun, was tight as a gnat's ass. Magazine follower wear is normal and is like that on all of my H&Ks. Keep shooting the wear stops at a certain point...

All 10 of my mags look just like yours. No biggie. Niether of my P30's have that backstrap issue though, so that's weird to me. You could call HK-USA to see if you can get a free one, but it wouldn't surprise me if they told you to piss off. If you do call be sure to ask for Travis, because he seems to be the coolest CS rep working there these days.

Did you notice any "ovalizing" of the 2 loops on the frame where the roll pin passes thru?

No wear on the frame or roll pin holes - I was very meticulous when initially trying to uncover the issue. The backstrap seemed to have slightly undersized rails that slide into and mated with the frame's rails. The new backstrap fit super tight and has zero movement just like my other H&Ks with removable backstraps.

All of my P30 mags look like that, for that matter so do my USP mags. It's not a problem.

Mass-produced plastic parts will occasionally result in a slightly out-of-tolerance piece. Since the replacement backstrap fits, I'd just chalk it up to the original one being a little off from the factory and call it good.

And like everyone else, my P30 mags also have that wear, no problems.
