    Geissele Trigger

Ok I got one today, just had to see what its about. Haven't installed it yet.

I was thinking of putting it in one of my "Go To" guns but its got screws.

Any of you guys running this fire control group real hard- Screws backing out etc....?

I know a lot of you guys love this trigger, but Im having second thoughts of even installing it!!!!

I don't run a Geissele trigger but I have used loctite on the set screw on the triggers of my 1911's for years with no problems. Set the screws to their proper heights and then hit them with a dab of blue loctite. It can easily be undone by hand if you have to but wont shoot lose over time.

This is the trigger that is on my training weapon. Never had a single issue.

We have run the Geissele HARD. We have encountered no failures of any kind. I trust and recommend them without reservation. That said, the new SSA/SSF trigger due in December will be THE answer for full blown combat rifles.

    Do tell...

My SPR-type AR presently has a two-stage of unknown origin. It is smoother than some but still very gritty and creeps... not suitable for the precision shooting and handload tests I bought this one for. I want smooth, crisp performance but combat reliable... not a race trigger (lots of little screws, fragile springs, etc...).

So, I have been reading and researching triggers as of late. The Geissele seems to have been the anointed Queen of triggers lately, with KAC as King, but both are big $$$. I have a Chip McCormick single in my M4, which is smooth as silk, but it tends to bump-fire when doing slow, precision shots on a bench, in a rest, without sufficient shoulder pressure on the butt plate, so I do not want to go that route in a SPR. I'll spend the $$$ if needed, but I don't want to over-buy for my needs either...

    Give us some more info...

Think same trigger feel...smooth take up, clean crisp break, with no extra parts-no adjustment. Perfect for a fighting gun.

    Bill Geissele's Trigger

Both the Geissele and Knight have Lock-tited screws.

Combat experience with the Knight's is proving to be around 3,000 to 3,500 rounds -- change triggers when you change barrels. Expensive.

The Knight's has a slower lock time due to its heavier hammer.

The Geissele will usually cycle over 100,000 rounds before it gives up the ghost. Need to change the hammer and trigger springs every 9,000-odd rounds (usually easier to keep track of by swapping them out when you change barrels). The newer combat trigger and I believe his select-fire trigger have been simplified without set screws.

Both need to be gunsmith checked and honed for best trigger break.

Good options without set screws are the newer Armalite and the Rock River tuned by John Holliger (White Oak Precision). Both should go 10,000 rounds before you need to look at replacing (same caveat with both those triggers as far as springs).

You could spend the money on a Jewell, but I was never happy with mine (I had four or five that I gave to junior shooters).

I know of only one shooter who uses the McCormick due to longevity problems rode hard and put away wet on the USAMU Action Shooting Team.

I have Geissele Match trigger in my SPR. It made the stock triggers feel horrible

Where can I find replacement springs for Geissele Triggers?

    Springs

Either call Bill or use stock GI springs (that's what we did at the AMU because we get them by the truck-load).

Bill can send you heavier springs -- the thought is the heavier spring will help shorten lock time.

    Where in AK are you!!??
I'm in Wasilla, and I shoot at Birchwood.
I have three of the Geissele triggers and I love them!!
I have 2 of the new non adjust style on order.
If you would like to try them, let me know.
