The Galaxy S2 is the phone to beat this year.

Interesting. No LTE though? I'm probably gonna take a pass and go for the Samsung Nexus Prime which should be announced at the October 11 conference and released for sale on 3 November if the rumor mill is correct. The reports from the beta testers have been effusive at the least. The Nexus Prime will blow the Galaxy SII out of the water. Best part is that since it is a nexus device it will not have Verizon's bloatware on it.

The Galaxy SII is a freaking beast.
I have my doubts about the Droid Prime being a better performing phone. It will have the advantage of Ice Cream sandwich, but from a raw performance perspective, the GS2 smashes everything under the sun by a huge margin.
It's not even close. You name the phone, and it gets raped by the GS2. The Sprint version is especially insane with it's massive 4.52" super amoled display.
If all apple has to offer is iOS 5, which looks like ass, and a 4" screen, then the iPhone5 five will be a 2nd tier phone out the gate.

I am interested to see what is coming out. While I prefer the iPhone to Android based phones I think it is great to see the current line of phones. All provide benefits and are far beyond the phones we had just a few years ago.
This is my biggest worry. I don't even care so much about the 4g/LTE speed but I want to switch to Verizon and you can't use voice and data at the same time with the current EVDO network.8) The iPhone 5 will likely sport three-times faster data connection. By implementing a hyper-speed HSPA+ 21 Mbps modem, the iPhone 5 will have three times the download speed of the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4. The addition is intended to yield a 4G-like experience -- it's not true 4G, but it has 4G speed.

I am waiting for them to figure it out too. I use voice and data a lot. Also there is the rumor that part of announcement is Sprint becoming a carrier for iPhone. The Sprint network is pretty decent locally from what I am led to believe. Either way, I am tired of AT&T.
As for the phone, I will likely buy the iPhone 5 for the A5 processor. iOS will only get heftier with new releases so might as well have the fastest available.
