What is the lower marked on these? Are they marked sporter?
They may luck out with their slow reaction as there appears that the luster is wearing off the midlength hype and there is a contrarian trend brewing going back to the carbine-length.
I used to think that Colt not having a mid-length was a big deal, but more and more I'm realizing that the things that seem to be strong trends in isolated circles do not always carry over to the market as a whole.

Has nothing to do with money (as a middy barrel and gas tube are the same price as a carbine barrel and gas tube).
I also do not think there is a justifiable reliability difference between a mid-length gas and a carbine gas.
So what it comes down to is rail length. Many prefer a longer rail. This can be accomplished by simply installing a low profile GB and a rail (or shaving down the FSB). If Colt started offering a GB and a Rail, people would complain about the rail (as it wasn't their "FAV"). Also remember that when a manufacturer puts an expensive item on a gun, they have to pay 11% FET on it. They just pass that cost onto you.
So it is cheaper for you, the consumer to install an expensive rail, stock or trigger onto the gun VS the manufacturer doing it.
