I realize that this is a pretty basic question, but I was always told "if you're not sure - ask". Will a Glock 19 mag fit a Glock 17?

No but a 17 will fit in a 19. I have a few for my 19 and they work great. Stick out about an inch past the bottom of the frame. Better than the 19 mag extenders.
Nope.

It will not as the magazine is too short to reach far enough up into the magazine well. On the other hand Glock 17 magazines will fit a Glock 19.
EDIT: Well dang looks like 3 of us were typing at the same time.

No.
BUT
You can have the G17 frame trimmed to G19 length and then it will. Unofficially referred to as a G19L.
Glock 17 Magazine:
Works with:
17, 19, 26
Glock 19 Magazine:
Works with:
19, 26
Glock 26 Magazine:
Works with:
26
There's quite a few people who have "made the cut" on their 17 to trim it down to 19 grip length and done it successfully. Do a search, there are a couple of threads here on M4C even if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks for the responses. The reason I asked is that an online retailer has the Korean-made G-19 mags for $5 each (until later today). I wouldn't trust my life to them, but if they fit my G-17 I thought they might make decent range mags.
sounds like a good reason to get a G19![]()
