I was worried that someone else who wanted it to keep going just to argue more about the Stag Arms Plus Package being "just as good as" would start it up again. I mean someone did do that already, when it was a year old. It's a waste of the server's capabilities.
    Yes, I like pretty ponies.

    Good intentions, maybe, but....

    New question

Ok, this is my first post ever to this forum. I am in no way trying to revive this post. Is this the appropriate place to ask a question about the same weapon(Stag new model 3) ?

Just picked up a Stag model 3

I just paid $700 for the STAG model 3. Out the door it was $775 (tax+bckgnd check). It disappointingly came with one 10 rnd steel mag. It does have the M4 feed ramps and 1:9 twist so not hte "plus" model. I haven't been able to shoot it yet. I have picked up some magpul pmags for $22 each. So for the price, I'm thinking it's a great starter AR. I have read many of the forums about getting a Spike Tact, CMMG, Colt or BCM. But they all seem to be a more expensive option when you add in all the shipping and transfer fees. And it seems that all the places I look, had the reccomended models out of stock like the Colt 6920. BTW my name is on a list for one. When the time comes to upgrade, I can sell and move up. So for now, I got entry into an AR platform, that for the most part, I plan on it being a range gun and a hunting rifle. But mostly to learn more about the details that I would personally like on my next AR. I felt like it was a great deal as long as my range time goes well.

range report on the stage model 3

I put a mueller quick shot red dot on it. it was what I had. Shot about 200 rnd through the rifle using a magpul pmag and the cheapest steal case ammo i could find. I did not have one hiccup. The gun cycled and fire everytime I pull the trigger and the bolt stayed back on every empty mag. After sighting in the red dot, I went to town on clay pigeons at 25 - 50 yds shooting standing up. The handguard did not get hot except at the very tip near the gas block. not an issue if your hands where they should be anyways. Gun felt balanced. trigger was a little stiff for my taste, but it is new. The breakpoint is nice and crisp. If i had to guess its prob about 7-8lbs.

Sailomb, how much $$$ would you accept when you sell your $775 budget AR to move up to your next gun? $500?

    used stag model 3

I've seen the STAG model 3 listed for $750 used on various forums from my google searches. I'm sure there's negotiation room there. I'm not sure where you are going with this. But it's definitely worth more than $500 used. I can list it on armslist.com and find out. I would say prob in the $650-$725 range. So I'm out about $100 or so. And for that, I get to enjoy many fine afternoon at the range with my friends and family. And the rifle worked flawlessly so far. And I've learn quite a bit about AR's. Heck, if it keeps running like this, there may not be a need for me to "upgrade".

Good price. Glad to hear you like your Stag.

I picked one up a few months ago, same deal, no problems thus far (minus the ones caused by myself).

Like you, I plan on using mine to learn more about shooting and maintaining ARs. My next gun will probably be one of the guns mentioned earlier in this thread (Noveske, DD, etc.). As of right now, I probably wouldn't even be able to appreciate one since mine works reliably and does everything I need it to.

So im ready to buy my first M4. Ive read too much and talked to too many people. It appears that my local weapons shops dont carry the stuff i think i need. The Stag new Model 3 without the plus package look attractive to me for pricing(899) but i dont know if this is the correct weapon for me. I thought i would just throw out some of my want vs needs and see if the experts on here would chime in.
This is intended to be my SHTF weapon. I will be using it at the range on a monthly basis. I think I need 556. I like the feel of the old m16 which is what i trained on 20+ years ago. I m ok with open sights but red dot is ok too. Im sure i need everything to be milspec. Now to the biggest desision.....cheap multiple weapons of single high end.
I am new and respect the opinion of people who know what they are talking about. Thanks for your advise.
