How many guns do you bring to the range?

I'm just wondering because it seems every time I go to the local range the majority of people have brought their entire gun collection to shoot. I'm trying to wrap my head around this as it has begun to bug me more and more. In my most recent trip, the guy next to me brought two S&W Bodyguard 380's, an XD 40, two AR's (one all "tacticooled" out with bipod, laser and a scope mounted to his carry handle) and a shotgun with one of those stocks that folds over top of the receiver.

Before anyone jumps on me, I do understand that certain people live quite far from the range and are trying to consolidate trips for sighting in etc., but most of the people I see are there week after week with the same armament.

So why does it bug me? I'm just trying to figure out what you could possibly accomplish by shooting 10-50 rounds from 5-10 different guns in one day? It just doesn't make much sense as you'll never become proficient with all of them, especially if you continue to jump back and forth between what you're shooting.

So who here also sees this often, and does it bother you?

    3-5 depending.

I'm either going to the pistol range or the rifle range. And in either case I have some new stuff that I haven't shot yet or for some reason I need to rezero.

Once I've done the "chores" then I can do some actual "shooting" and for that I usually have one or two firearms. I really wished I lived someplace where I could plink in the backyard.

Beware the man who owns one gun. He will know how to use it.

Most of the time, no more than two. I try to keep my range visits productive and focus on either handgun, or rifle/shotgun and do transitions to handgun. I'm not a collector, so I don't really do the show and tell parties where everyone brings ten guns and passes them around.

Plus, I believe in cleaning my guns after use and shooting too many becomes a chore.

More than likely it sits in a shoebox in the closet, and hasn't been fired since Bush was in office.

As for my range trips- I will focus on one system, either handgun or rifle, and will usually have two of the chosen system. More than likely, one gun will get about 80-90% of the rounds.

    What a logical retort.

Beware the man with two guns, he's planned ahead for when things go wrong.

    Too many. I'm an idiot.

I keep telling myself the *next* time I go I will only shoot pistol OR rifle and that I'll only do it with one weapon and will focus on specific drills rather than 'turning money into noise'. Invariably I end up doing the opposite. Perhaps one day I'll learn.
