I just got a pair of the NB Minimus a few days ago. So far I absolutely love them! There is a disclaimer on them saying that you need to ease into using them to prevent injury, so I've been wearing them around the house and while running errands. I wore them to the gym today while doing legs and they worked out great for maintaining more balance. Might just be in my head but box jumps felt great in them. I've also had an issue where I walked a little "duck-footed" with my right foot. Without even making a conscious adjustment, both feet are pointed straight ahead while wearing these shoes. Can't wait to hit the trails with them!

Update: Ran with my NB's this morning and all I can say is "awesome". I've always had ankle, shin, and knee pains from running with just about every show I've tried but I didn't have a single problem with the NB's. Without even making a conscious effort, I was running on the balls of my feet as you would if you were actually barefoot and got a killer calf workout as a result. They will need some time getting used to but I can see myself enjoying them a lot more in the future.

As I mentioned in another thread, I love the NB mimimus shoes for the box gym and other high-intensity/short-time workouts, but I hate running in them. I prefer Pearl Izumi's for running. I really want to get into the Newtons, as they are supposed to be some of the best for mid-foot runners like myself, but damn they are expensive.

I picked up a pair of NB minimus last week and I'm loving the hell out of them. I've run about 10 miles in them so far and you really do feel a difference. Definitely something I would recommend. The transistion to them was quick and subconcious, at least for me, after the first few minutes running in them you just start running the way you need to in them. I'll be putting alot more miles on them in the near future as running has become more enjoyable to me, I've never had any issues with injuries or problems from regular running shoes, but these just seem to make the run feel better. YMMV
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step...and a lot of bitching.

Been using New Balance 101’s for trail running, there is a rock guard keeps your foot from getting poked.

I've been on these for about 10 months or so and love them. I picked up another two pair as i've worn the original down to slicks. I haven't been training much lately but I find it easier to go back to running (less foot pain for the first few weeks) in minimalist shoes. As long as I don't rush back into things.

I've run in Inov8 Roclite 295s. There not bad for a trail runner. Inov8 makes alot of minimalist running shoes. I still have some issues with my achilles tendons though.

Inov8 seems to be the most popular choice at my Crossfit gym. I'll have to check them out, especially since there are so many nice trail out here and the weather has finally calmed down (AZ).

I had some tenderness in my achilles tendons for about two weeks, but it went away. I did two miles this morning on a trail and even calf fatigue was very low.

I got a pair of Merrell Pace Gloves for wife, and so far she is enjoying them, but says it feels weird for now.

Great article by the guy who wrote Born to Run. This is only a few days old.

I went from "non runner" to enthusiastic runner with Merell Trail Gloves. I needed some way to get exercise after a couple knee surgeries that left me with big chunks of cartilage missing. Barefoot was the way for me. It's been challenging to ramp it up slowly and not hurt my feet/ankles/tendons, but my knees never hurt - and I had gotten used to them always hurting. It takes a lot longer to heal up and get strong in your 40's

It's a great way to go from fat and old to fast and old. :-)
