Wow, those look wicked. If I ran more on trails I would get a pair for sure. Unfortunately I'm tied to asphalt and treadmills.

Got a pair of NB Minimus Trail shoes for Christmas. Will post a update/review after I get some miles on 'em.

FWIW I have had a pair of the NB Minimus for about two months. I subscribe to MilitaryAthlete.com and do their workouts which often involve short sprints where you are constantly cutting back and forth. The tread where balls of my feet are has started to come off already. I will say that I like them otherwise but if you are planning on doing a similar type of exercise you might want to opt for the trail glove which doesn't seem to have the break in the tread in that location.

The 2012 Merrells are listed on their website now. They're not available for sale yet but you can see what's coming in the next couple of months and plan ahead.

I'm buying Road Gloves the first day they're available!

The other reason is that for me anyway, they are just flat out comfortable. It's like wearing a slipper, and for someone who wears boots most of the time, I love being able to wear something so light that I feel barefoot.
This. I have Vibram Five Fingers KSOs and I love them! They are super comfortable to just wear. I tried running once on pavement and a half mile in, my calfs felt like they were going to rip out of my legs. Granted I don't run so that could have been it too

Got my Merrell Road Gloves yesterday. Great day for it too. Mid 50s and sunny. Quick 3 mile run after work, and my initial assessment is that these shoes are - in a word - PERFECT. If you like Trail Gloves (I've been running in mine for almost a year now) these are the perfect road shoe for you. Merrell tweaked only the few things necessary to make the TG a better road shoe, and got it 100% right. These would also make a great casual "sneaker" for the minimalist crowd. I'm planning on doing a few road races in March so I'll be logging more and more miles in these over the next few weeks. I'll let you know how it goes.

I need to try and retrain myself to run the correct way. Almost 30 years of heel pounding is going to be hard to unlearn but it's definitely taking it's toll on the old lower body.

Actually, once you make the switch to minimals you stop heel striking fairly quickly.

Just remember to take it slow.
