    M16A2's with M4 Stocks?

I teach soldiers in the 94M MOS at Fort Sill. Once a month they have a WTX and have to draw weapons from the weapons pool. In the past they have always drawn plain old M16A2's. Today almost everyone drew A2's with M4 Stocks. Is this something that the Army is doing overall, or just something isolated to this post?

Nope, not isolated to that post. There are a bunch of them out here in AFG as well. What my understanding is is that there was a package approved for M16s to fit an M4-style stock to them. From what I've seen, they all look like standard M4 stocks and reciever extensions. I thought it was just a bunch of cobbled together weapons initially, but the change was intentional.

The Marine Corps also has an approved stock kit that M16A4's can be fitted with, but armories don't install them because when the weapon is turned in, it has to be returned to the original configuration per the order.

I'm sure with a quick google search, the actual order or directive could be found. I just figured I would report what I know. The change was approved a while back, I think at the start of the year some time.

Very Canadian of you...that's the direction we've gone up here: the C7A2.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.

I believe it is the Vltor A5 system. Uses a Rifle spring, in a slightly longer tube than standard carbine and a buffer that looks like a carbine but is bigger.

It improves the weapon function tremendously. Any weapon system its on it improves the function, except ive heard it causes issues with the 14.5 Middy guns.

It is actually the Army's own buffer design designated the "H6". I don't really know the details on it, but I believe the buffer is slightly lighter weight than a standard H2 carbine buffer, but the tube and spring should be standard M4-style. If anyone has more info I would love to see it.

    Already?

I've heard word of something like this in the near future, but I didn't realize it was in action already. It seems like a good idea to me.

Good old Fort Sill. I almost miss it. Almost.
