Was wondering, would you guys advise against a light weight barrel for suppressed use?
Would a end-mount can like the M4-2000 on a 12.5" LW barrel cause an unnecessary shift in POI?

I would think so. You never know till you get on it. For example, the weight may make it shoot low, but the can's gas diffussion per say, may make it shoot high. But in all probability, yes it will shift it down. Less of an issue with shorter barrels though .
But I'm not a huge fan of pencil barrels for any gun for any use. I like Sporter weight or "normal weight" for most shooting and Med Hvy for precision.

Do you own any suppressors now? Have you shot any on an AR-15/M-16? Do some side-by-side comparisons before you spend your money.
If you own no suppressors today, the new AAC SDN-6 for the 300 AAC Blackout would be tempting. The AAC M4-2000's are super nice as well. Personally, I opted for the Mitre mount versions because I like the reflex design for less blowback and putting the weight closer to my hands.
The Gem-Tech suppressors I have personally fired did not impress me, especially compared to AAC cans when I did side-by-side demo's. SureFire is well regarded by many experienced Class 3 owners but, personally my limited experience with their mounts left me with mixed feelings and I bought AAC.
For my compact/mini 5.56 suppressor, I'm seriously looking at the AAC Ranger 2 which is a relative bargain in today's marketplace. Keeping mind that even with a suppressor, most AR-15's will have enough port ejection noise to make your ears ring if you hearing is good. If you grew up on a farm or work in a noisy environment, port ejection noise probably won't bother you.
Has your wife tried a Noveske KX-3 "flaming pig"? While not a suppressor, they work good at reducing concussion and putting more noise downrange.
You have less leverage with a 12.5" barrel then you do with a 16.0" or longer. However, you will get some POI shift. I don't obsesses about it too much personally, after all POI shift is pretty easy to accommodate if you shoot with and without a suppressor regularly. If you only shoot with the can, what POI shift? Just zero your rifle.
With a can on the muzzle, I actually prefer a lighter barrel though a 0.625" Pencil model is a little too light IMHO. I'm really leaning towards a 0.700 Noveske N4 CHF model as my next purchase.
I do like a 14.5" LW mid-length gas pencil barrel with a simple flash hider though.
I dont own any suppressors now, nor have I ever shot a suppressor before. But I like the idea of having a suppressor for possible SHTF use and masking your position plus flash reduction.
But after reading this thread:
https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=72387
and other suppressor threads here, Im stuck on deciding between the AAC M4-2000 and the Surefire 212. Someone correct me if Im wrong, but it seems the Surefire cans are lacking in durability and the AAC cans have more POI shift than Surefire cans. This is what I have gathered from reading on this site and other sites like Silencertalk. But when going with a lightweight build and running a suppressor, I think it would make more sense to go with the Surefire 212. I doubt the wife will want to have the suppressor on the rifle at all time, plus in might not be a good idea to(?) since this is a DD factory sbr, and certainly not an AR with a custom gas port size for dedicated suppressed use.
