Looks like we are going to surrender more of our rights to the federal government. The TSA is starting a traffic checkpoints in TN. Again the TSA is using the terrorism bogeyman as an excuse to take more liberty away from the American people. Is it just me or this country is starting to resemble more and more the old soviet union and that was my inspiration for the title of this thread. What are your thoughts.

A good find but these VIPR teams aren't new and have been at this for a while.

As part of the TSA's request for FY 2012 funding, TSA Administrator John Pistole told Congress last week that the TSA conducts 8,000 unannounced security screenings every year. These screenings, conducted with local law enforcement agencies as well as immigration, can be as simple as checking out cargo at a busy seaport. But more and more, they seem to involve giving airport-style pat-downs and screenings of unsuspecting passengers at bus terminals, ferries, and even subways.

Thats why its TSA and not 'Aviation Security Administration'. They knew it would be used for more than just screening passengers boarding flights. The TSA will be on the roads, rails, air, sea, and anything else that can transport something.

We have pretty permissive CCW laws out here in Colorado. Pat people down getting on the bus and they find my P7. And then..... nothing illegal there.

We already do it on the borders each and every day.

And for the whole "That can't happen in America" crowd, MILLIONS of Americans have warrant-less searches performed on them and their property in direct violation of the 4th Amendment each and everyday at the nations airports.

Well let's see now. . .I don't see anything mentioned about someone who has taken flying lessons, studied martial arts, being of Middle-Eastern descent, proclaiming Islam, and or carrying a box cutter. . .


I quote the U.S. Constitution often, I have in the past and still purchase "weatherproofed ammunition containers", same with "MREs", "night flashlights", "gas masks", and "high capacity magazines".

It appears people with similar spending habits and personal beliefs to that of my own are the baby killing terrorists that our benevolent Federal Government is trying to "protect" the herd from.

What a great way to create an adversarial relationship with the citizens of their community. Anybody pulling me over at any type of check point can expect me to be the most uncooperative person on the planet. So much for the 4th Amendment and America.
