I wouldn't sweat it Shiz...with all the positive chatter about them the past few months I'm sure they're swamped.

For several months now pretty much all customers have been happy ( one main reason I ran with them)....then the past day or two bunch of chatter has picked up about some wierd "end products" from PSA.

I'm sure it's a bump (nothing like manufacturing a bad batch or the like) which PSA seems to be flattening out with reverence. I'm giving them the benifet of the doubt, because of what I got (good solid upper) and allot of others have recievd good products......time will tell.

MODs hope you don't mind me trying to keep this (updates on the PSA "stuff") in one thread, and so has hijack OP original thread....I apologize for that and will refrain from futher posting if told so.

OK, on a fellow mentioned that the folks assembling the uppers for PSA should be working at Mcdonalds....I totally understand his scorn.

Well, PSA rep. responded with this:

" Thank you. We are in the process of making that a reality. We had strict procedures and checks in place to keep something like this from happening and they were bypassed.

We had been batch testing the upper receivers. We are in the process of having our new test fire chamber built to allow us to test fire each unit. The new chamber should be ready within the next two weeks. However, due to the recent incident we will test fire each unit at an off site location until the new test fire chamber is complete to ensure that all units are test fired.
    "

I tell you, they sure are doing exactly what we would want from a company that wants to be a top maker/contender!

    Thanks Breadstick.

I may be off on this and hopefully, IG (or another Mod) will step in and correct me if I am wrong.
    This would be my concern...

From what I understand, M4 Ramps are seldom needed on semi-autos. Seems like rapid fire picks the bullet while it is a little lower in the mag, so it hits the ramp on the receiver side of the ramp cuts. I've also read that monopod'ing on a mag can cause the bullet to strike lower on the receiver side of the M4 ramps.

According to the pics, it looks like there is a "step" from the receiver cut to the cut in the extension. If that is the case and the bullet nose hit on the lower receiver section of the ramp it could hang up on the "step". But it could be the pics (but they all look so clear.)

This isn't a hard fix, a Dremel tool could fix the "step" in a few minutes.

I am concerned about all of this because this weekend my son asked me to find him a decent AR to play with before he goes into the USN in January. I have done a little business with PSA in the past and I have confidence that they want to make a good product. I would like to make sure they have the bugs ironed out before I recommend one to my son.

But maybe it's just me... (and my ignorance).

The one I just posted is a response he posted on another forum.

Talking about firing those responsible for the latest issues, and building thier own test fire facility.

I have not ordered a complete weapons system from PSA, yet. I have only bought an upper, lower, and LPK from them. My build went very smoothly. Shipping was prompt and came to my house / FFL within a timely manner.

I used an existing Les Baer barrel in the PSA upper. There is no "step" in the feed ramp to barrel extension on my rifle. Based on my positive experiences, I would not hesitate to purchase more from PSA.

At the risk of slightly hijacking the thread, I will give a little first person perspective:

I live about 15 minutes from PSA and have purchased two pistols (Glock 19 and GSG 1911) and 3 stripped lowers at the store, as well as various other items. The store is much smaller than most of y'all probably imagine. It is basically the front office space of a large warehouse. They seem to be evolving, as to both their selection and staff. At first, there were only a few of the same guys in there, and they mostly had ammo and a few pistols. Now, they always have different guys working the counter and a much greater selection of firearms, as well as accessories. In the beginning, I mostly noticed blackhawk holsters, etc. and DD AR components. Now they have holsters from Crosstuck, Safariland, Blackawk, Galco, and probably a couple others. Now they have a whole wall of Magpul accessories and more in the back, if what you want is not on the shelf, as well as suppressors and various rails, etc. They have various mags for assorted firearms, and I can promise you that their ammunition is the cheapest in the state, as I travel all over. Think Wal-Mart prices in a gun store. Their ammo prices put all the other local guys to shame.

I'm not saying all this to pimp PSA, as I've bought products from BCM and other local places when I find a better price. What I am saying is that they are listening to the market, as to what openings exist for certain items at desirable pricepoints. The staff, as a whole, is incredibly helpful, but the store is always loaded with customers. Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for help. No big deal. Now imagine this problem compounded by hundreds, if not thousands of internet orders, not even taking into account the numerous guys that attach all sorts of random special instructions to their orders. They are a relatively small outfit.

My theory is that the company is growing at a much faster pace than was initially planned for, and they are having employee issues because of this. Most of the counter guys are super knowledgeable, while a few others don't seem to have as great of a grasp on ARs. Everyone isn't an AR person. Hell, I freely admit that I'm a newb compared to 90% of the guys on this site. Their customer service seems to be very good for the people that do have problems, and with the volume of product they are putting out, problems are to be expected from a growing company.

I guess the point of this soliloquy is to say that this is still a new company, and from multiple firsthand experiences with the people working there, I believe they are trying to put out a good product at a good price. They are going through some growing pains, but hopefully they will work them out. More good options are never bad for the market.

I'm curious though, with respect, do you think they are going to steal your money or something?
Not really...A friend told me that he cant charge people's credit cards unless he has the product in stock ready to ship. I don't know if that is state law, or whatever.

Most businesses charge right before they ship. A small concern, but I admit it got bigger when they put carbine tubes on middys.

Lol If i get a middy tube on my carbine, ill trade who ever gets the carbine. LOL we can meet at 7-11.

Copy....If I were running a small company I'd hate to have that "liability" hanging over my head anyway. Better in my mind to bill at shipment. That's what happens in the industry I work in.

Maybe small growing companies need the money up front to grow. If so maybe they are growning too fast.

Anyway I'm pulling for PSA. I think they will get it right. I think they "fixed" the personnel problem and have now comitted to test firing every upper from now on. I don't think we'll be seeing any more short gas tubes.....and that's good for everybody
