300 AAC Blk Can run hard on a 8" SBR?

    Just as it says,

Has anyone had a chance to see how well the AAC 762-SDN-6 cans are holding up on the PDW length setups?

Since AAC is selling 8"-10" barrels, is AAC even warranting them that short?

I was thinking of getting an 8" Noveske upper and swapping out the blackout flashhider with the full comp if possible just to stem the blast baffle erosion.

While I'm not one of those "i dont want to shoot my can cause I'll wear it out" type people I have seen the noticeable difference on an M4 2000 run hard on a 16" gun with a single port Brakeout verses one on a 11.5" with a blackout flashhider only and I am aware of the higher degree of stress put on the can.

I was just curious as to how well the SDN-6's were holding up with the larger round and the super short barrels.

The 300 Blackout .3" bore diameter means that there is much more volume to burn all that spent powder vs. a 5.56 8" barrel. So I don't think you have much to worry about. Added the fact that it is completely inconel it makes for a solid can. I am merely going to run my 762SD which is only inconel on the blast baffle for suppressing mine. I have personally seen folks using 9mm & 45cal suppressors on their 300 blackout while running subsonics... as for supersonics I think you need to stick with a 30 cal can like you are doing.

I however took an extra step and had a brakeout mount put on my Noveske 8" that is clearing a Form 4 as we speak for extra measure.

You are a lucky man haha.

I want an SBR in 300BLK.

I hear nothing but good things about that round in a 10" and under barrel.

Ive never got to shoot one...yet!

    Have fun man!

Problem is there are no small reflex type cans developed for this caliber. Unless I had a 7.62NATO that I was also suppressing I would wait until a small reflex can like the M4-S or surefire is developed for the supersonic blackout calibre.

The subsonic suppressed blackout is not really something I would consider very useful for civilians, unless they are into hunting out of season.

And the supersonic with a big 7.62 NATO can is overkill, adds a lot more length and weight than needed, to the point that you have to ask why bother with this, what am I gaining?

Why do you want a reflex can?

yes, the N-6 holds up well. no problems at all, even on F/A vSBR.

The 'N-6 is warranted down to a 6.5" bbl in 300 BLK.

You can if you want, the Noveske 8 is very nice. I've not found you need a brake for 'can protection' with 300 BLK.

The 300 BLK to 5.56 is night and day in terms of blast and erosion. The 300 BLK is damn near gentle compared. I wouldn't sweat it at all.

The 300 BLK uses a smaller charge of faster burning power, with much more bore area to expand into being 30 cal than the 5.56 does. It is easy on barrels and silencers.

Reflex silencers are dinosaurs. Mounting issues with shorter barrels or longer handguards, more weight, and minimal increase in sound reduction over the newer muzzle mount silencers.

Sounds like you're the only one that can answer that. The way I would suggest looking at it is to build your equipment around YOUR mission.

If the 300BLK does not fit then it does not fit - It's all about the right tool for the job Beavis...

Not sure of the release date but I did get an e-mail from Ops Inc in early September that they are releasing the M4-M can in 300 blackout.
