    C Products aluminum M16 mags?

I know that C Products has QC problems with their stainless steel M16 mags. Does anyone have any first hand experience with CP's aluminum mags? I am tempted to buy a bunch of the $9.99 CP mags with Magpul followers.

I know you asked for first hand info. on this...Honestly, I don't have experience with the CP Mags, and never want to.

Why risk it? I have always felt that their QC policy is to send them out to the field and then deal with the fallout. Poor decision when peoples lives are counting on these products. This I believe is a result of too much demand right now.

Of course, there will be those who have bought the CP Mags, and swear by them, but I question how much "acid testing" they have done before calling them "reliable" for SHTF. For me, a Mag. must function 100% over at least 100 rounds of my SHTF loads (75 Gn. TAP) before it goes into the "Go Bag". ALL USGI's with Magpul followers have done this. ALL OF THEM!

It's your money, but there are no guarantees on Mag functionality. So...buyer beware!

The D&H (LaBelle Tooling/ An Original USGI Contractor) USGI mags as well as all the other USGI contractors mags (OKAY, Adventureline, Cooper etc.), and Magpul PMAG's have gotten much more positive reliability reports than the CP products. I think you can get the D&H Moly Coat, with Magpul follower for around $15.00 for 10 or more. This is a great price! I remember paying double or more 7 years ago. I also think that the Magpul PMAG's in 10 or more quantities is a steal.

We issued out 300 CP mags at work for the patrol rifles. A few, less than 5 I was told, have had some of the welds along the rear spine come loose. I have 10 of my own, 4 with the magpul followers that have been flawless so far. David

As far as current production GI style magazines go, I will not own any other brand besides Okay or NHMTG.

I've had too much trouble lately with others. Crappy welds, not dropping free, etc. I had to send a C products back because of a front seam gap.

I recently bought a batch of Centers made in 2004 and not one dropped free from any of my lowers.

I got quiet a few of these a while back. Haven't put them all in circulation yet, but of the 12 aluminum CP 30rd, 4 SS 30rd, plus about 5 or so curved 20rd mags i have used, I haven't really run into any trouble yet Ran into a little trouble with one of the curved 20's not wanting to come out of most of my guns due to a burr on a weld.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to break all of them out and give them a try before long.

I have a bunch of AR-Stoner mags, which I understand are from C-Products (?), both 20 (curved) and 30 rounders, and they have all worked fine. I've had these a couple of years, so maybe their QC was better then. I have not tried any new C Products ones as I don't carry them.

I also have a bunch of the SS C Products ones that came from Magpul (don't know if they are selling these any more but they came pre-equipped with ranger plates and magpul followers). These are stock and I have not put them up yet for sale as I think I want to test them all for fit in my 8 lowers I have handy (an old Essential Arms, a 94 Eagle Arms, a new POF billet, 2 crappy cast Oly, 1 crappy cast DPMS, and one forged DPMS).

I bought a bunch way before the BARF problems came up and had zero problems with any of them.

    Angry

Sent 3 30 rounders back to CProducts in March. They've forgotten about sending me replacements or returning them. Forget about them!

I bought 30 CP mags and stuck them in the safe before the issues with these started surfacing. I decided I better get them out and test them.

It cost me about $300 in ammo to test them. After testing I threw twelve of them in the trash.

The only aluminum mags I will buy now are Okay/NHMTG. They are the only brand I have found that don't need pitched/sent back/reworked/whatever.

It's a lot cheaper to do it right the first time IMO.
