I have 18 C Products mags and 2 NHMTG mags. The only two mags I have had a problem with are the NHMTG! Burrs on the inside snag the follower and jam it. Magpul followers won't fit in them.

I bought 25 of the C-Products aluminum 30rd with "Mar-lube" and grey Mag-pul followers back when TOS had a group buy on them. Most of them I haven't taken out of the wrapper. The 8 or so I have used functioned perfectly through a Jeff Gonzales class, along with 4 D&H teflon-coated with green followers, but all the bad stuff I read about C-Products makes me think I should inspect them all.

It cost me about $300 in ammo to test them. After testing I threw twelve of them in the trash.

The only aluminum mags I will buy now are Okay/NHMTG. They are the only brand I have found that don't need pitched/sent back/reworked/whatever.

It's a lot cheaper to do it right the first time IMO.
    Absolutely!

I think that regardless of the manufacturer, you should inspect and test fire any Mag before relying on it to save your life.

It does cost for ammo, but all I did for my SHTF Mags. (D&H Teflon with Magpul Followers) was to integrate them into my training runs over time. Ammo would have cost the same, and the 7 Mags. that are in my "Go Bag" got fully tested after about 4 weeks.

I also have tested an additional 13 Mags. over a much broader period of time in the same fashion. All 20 stay fully loaded and ready to go.

FWIW, I bought 5 of the C Products aluminum mags with the black Mar-Lube finish before they offered them with the Magpul follower. When I attempted to replace the green followers in them with standard Magpul followers each mag had problems with the new followers sticking at different spots (not a single one of my 28 other aluminum mags which are a mix of Okay, LaBelle, and Center had any issues). I had to file on the followers to get them to move freely. I'd rather pay $15 for a PMag than $10 plus shipping for CP aluminum mag. But that's just me.

I currently have 17 of them with the dry film finish.

None of them have any of the issues I've seen people complaining about. They all work 100%.

Thanks for the info guys. I will save my money. I spoke with Wes Grant a few days ago and he recommended DSG for aluminum mags, and of course P-mags.

Looks like I'll be picking up about 50 DSG with Magpul followers and 50 P-mags very soon.

Good decision. I can tell you are a "Seeker of Wisdom", but.....100 mags?

First let me say that I am not telling you how to spend your money. I wouldn't do that. But, I would make a few suggestions as a topic of conversation.

Please, just don't think you're doing it as an "investment". In the likely event that the new "Party" has their way, (and they did the last time, but this time will be worse), you very well won't be able to sell them on the open market like we did with "Pre- Bans." It might even be illegal to own them outright, regardless of when you bought them. I doubt that prices will ever be >$30 again, because we learned our lesson, and everyone has plenty of Mags.

Then again, if you think you'll use all 100 Mags past their "Life Span" which is in excess of 2,000 or more rounds (from my persoanal experience) for the Mag. body...have at it. Personally, I would spend my money on things like "Lower Receivers", and the other "Typical" ban items like collapsible stocks, carbine length uppers etc. that you won't be able to get. Once you have those, with a proportionate number of Mags, Ammo or reloading components....you're set.

This is only my opinion, but I know that even with training 200 rounds per week, I'll never go through 100 mags in my lifetime, especially if I have replacement springs and followers.

Now, if you have those kinds of discretionary funds, please email me and I will send you my Christmas list.

I hear ya, man. My wife asks me the same question, "Why do you need all those magazines?".

I have multiple AR15s and two M16s. Add to that the fact that I am going to pick up at lease one MASADA, one SCAR-L, and at least two or three more complete AR15s....I have alot of weapons that take M16 mags. I want plenty of mags for each (at least ten) and I want plenty of spare mags to be able to pass onto my kids one day. I will be buying these mags, Glock mags, Sig 228, and a bunch of mags for other weapon platforms. The time is now to get while the getting is good.

Back when the ban was in effect, I was buying only Colt and Okay 30 round mags. But I haven't purchased any AR15 mags since the ban sunset (unless you count the ones that came with the AR15s I bought).

I don't ever think of guns/mags/parts as investments. You have to sell an item to make it an investment. I am just a guy who lived through the high prices of the last ban and I don't want to kick myself for not buying while these are inexpensive. I've had that painful hindsight experience on many "should have purchased" items and I don't want to repeat it if we have another ban.

Hey, you're not the only one....even my class 3 dealer thinks I'm nuts for buying that many M16 mags.
