    Indiana deer gun laws

Proposed(read 99% going to happen) 2012 legal changes to Indiana deer hunting concerning rifles:

Maximum Case Length of 1.8 inches up from 1.625 inches
Minimum Bullet Diameter of .357(same as always).

What all does this open the door to cartridge wise? I know 450 Bushmaster will be legal. 458 SOCOM already was and got real popular.

I really wish they would make it any straight walled case. I'd love a 450 Marlin or 45-70 lever gun.

Am I missing something here? I can't use a .308 Win to hunt deer in IN?

Heck no. It's pistol calibers in rifles basically.

Wow. That's such a dumb rule.

Pretty much, but the majority of Indiana is flat and even the rural areas aren't so rural anymore. I can understand their reasoning behind seeing as the vast majority of morons try to take 400+ yard shots... Make it any straight walled case(450 Marlin)

Oh well, that's what happens when u get the hippy generation in charge of government.....

I just started hunting in IN a few years ago. The pistol caliber rifle rule is a bit odd. 458 Socom is OK. 45/70 is not.

The 1.8 inch case length doesnt seem to add too many cartridges to the list. I would like to see them allow .30 . The 300 blackout would then be a great option

Here in Michigan, we can use anything larger than .22 rimfire. Want to hunt deer with a .17 Remington? It's legal. The only stupid thing is 6 round firearm capacity (chamber and magazine combined) for semi auto rifles and shotguns, except rimfire. And no suppressors.
