UK military steps up plans for Iran attack amid fresh nuclear fears

Britain's armed forces are stepping up their contingency planning for potential military action against Iran amid mounting concern about Tehran's nuclear enrichment programme, the Guardian has learned.

The Ministry of Defence believes the US may decide to fast-forward plans for targeted missile strikes at some key Iranian facilities. British officials say that if Washington presses ahead it will seek, and receive, UK military help for any mission, despite some deep reservations within the coalition government.

Come on old chaps, you can handle this one without our lead. You know we're here if you need us, but I think we should take a bench or a least a knee on this one right now.

I think Iran will be easier to topple than many might consider: they have deep ethnic divisions, and Persians only make up 60% of the population.

Iran could very well be easy to topple but the challenge is what to do after Iran topples. Saddam's Iraq was extremely easy to topple yet it got us in a quagmire that lasted 8 years and cost the U.S. 4500 killed and cost us over a trillion dollars. Less than 5% of the troops killed in Iraq happened during the initial invasion in 2003.

You'll never get a civilized nation out of those smelly animals. But they surely can't be allowed to pursue Nuke cababilities.

I don't disagree with you but what do you think about North Korea, China, Russia and Pakistan all having nukes? I wouldn't consider any of these countries to be peaceful or friends of the U.S. and our allies.

True. But Iran's guy is Flat out nuts. Akmadouchenbag will certainly attack Israel. There's a sliver of rationality in those other countries.
