Your 12.5" barrel is best described as an "M4 contour".

It does require a committed host, but until Surefire came out with their FA system this was still the preferred attachment in my mind.

Now I'm stuck trying to decide if I want to add a 16th or M4-M to my 14th and M4S

My question for you is, how long is that rail? And how much length is added past the muzzle with your setup? Also, how exactly do the Ops Inc suppressors attach/detatch to/from the muzzle break? I've never seen one in person or a demonstration of how it works...

    Thanks for the help!
I believe the MRP rail is somewhere around 9". I'm not positive on the exact number since the entire upper is one piece. The little M4-S only adds 1" past the end of the muzzle break. I think the M4-M adds around 4" past the end...still not bad. The Ops cans thread over the brake and butt up against the lip of the collar. Here are a couple of up close pics of my RRA M4 with one of the Ops collars and brake. In the first pic you can see there is a thread protector at the rear of the brake and on the second pic you can see the exposed threads on the brake.

I would talk to Ron from Ops about your setup. I know he has made custom collars in the past. I haven't seen him post on this forum but if you go to www.silencertalk.com and under the Ops Inc. his userid is k31user...just send him and PM or you can try the contact number listed on www.opsinc.us/contact.php.html

I would probably go with the 16th. I'm sure the M4-M will be close to the performance of the 14th and there is a big difference between the 14th and 16th or at least to my ears.

On the topic of OPS cans... I'm left handed and shot a friends suppressed 12.5in SBR w/ KAC NT4 and it was somewhat of a buzz kill. While a sick setup the gas blowback was un-tolerable for me. The shit hitting me in the face I could deal with but the gasses were making my eyes close involuntarily. Granted this was at an indoor range but it still got me thinking...

    My questions are..

    1. Would an OPS 16th likely be the best setup for me as a left handed shooter?

    2. Do the OPS cans have the least amount of blow back?

    3. If not what is likely to have the least amount of blow back?

    4. How do the OPS cans suppress compared to other brands such as AAC, Surefire and KAC? I don't know anyone with an OPS can and cant seem to find any good sound bites of them on the web.

Ops cans are of the reflex design (mounts back over the barrel) which typically have less blowback. I don't notice any gas in the face on any of my setups. Maybe some other Ops owners will chime in on their experiences.

IMO, Ops cans rank right up there with the others you mentioned in performance and durability. Yeah, their mounting system may be older and not as cool but it works and works well. Ops can have a nice tone to them. I wish I had some videos.

Thanks Accuser. I'm wondering if I went with a regular can if I would eventually just get used to the gasses and thus my eyes quit watering/involuntarily closing.

Right now however, the candidates are the Ops 16th and AAC SPR M4.

    It's equivalent to roughly 9 3/4"
