For an oil I've been using Slip EWL, as well as Gunbutter.
Doc, I used to do the same thing. I just got real tired of the grease getting slung in my eyes when I ran the weapon. How do you avoid this? Thinner film( mine was pretty thin), different makeup of the grease your using, etc... Enlighten me.

ETA: just saw where you said OIL on rails. Never mind. Senior moment.

I grease up my government model, it likes to run wet. My P-30 also gets grease in the slide rails, but much less. Light oil in the close in spaces.
Whatever you use it needs to be tested the same way you test anything used in or on a carry gun.

Also on this topic of the lubricant coming off of the gun, whether it seep out or gets slung off, the Slide Glide Lite does a great job of staying put. It does not seem to get slung off or seep out of the gun like gun oils do. Not saying it is for every one or every application, just that right now I am impressed with it.

    Question Royal Purple 10w-30

Has anybody used Royal Purple to 10w-30 to lube on M4's , 1911-A1's ,Glocks and weapons? Does it work better than CLP and other brands Lubes?

Yes, I have. Yes, it works. Better by a margin, but, it goes back to what I said earlier. Is it really worth it?

On a rifle running hard, maybe. I think a 1911, glock...it really shouldn't matter. I still have half a quart left. Just went back to regular oil and clp.

Yes, I'm a dinosaur. Need to try froglube...

I have used Mobil1 synthetic oil and Redline synthetic high pressure grease for pretty much everything I own with no issues.

Froglube has for sure got my attention more and more lately though, I might have to try some here very soon.

Don't over think it. Mobil 1 works damn good on the rails, plus a little grease on the barrel hood. For training or classes, I keep it pretty wet with Mobil 1 and it runs great. To a 1911, lube is lube and it likes lube! KISS.

I've been using Miltec for years now on all my weapons with zero issues.
