    Remington 5R range report

I have been running my new 5R in .223 for about two weeks now. I have a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18 sitting on a weaver Picatinny base and Millett tactical bases. I have less than 500 rounds through it and she is dumping three shotters in less than a quarter inch at 100 yards. The five shotters are up around the .7" range. I'm using the Sierra 60 grain varmiteer with 22.8 grains of AA 2460. It's a keeper. I shot the groups below on Saturday. The conditions were ideal with no wind. The only limitation was the big loose nut behind the scope. This one is a keeper. It is a sweet little caliber that I can shoot all day long without taking a beating.

    Keeper

Sounds like you definately have a keeper on your hands, hopefully with some more load development and practice you can suck those groups down even tighter.

Get it out to 3, 4, and 5 hundo.

A gun that shoots good like that needs to stretch a little.

I wish I could. I'm stuck in hill country with 100 yard gun clubs.

Come on out to AZ and shoot with Pappabear and markm. We'll get you on our 1000 yard range!

I think I would have to shoot it, go find it, stick it in another charged case and shoot it again to get it to go that far.

We don't usually run the 223s out that far. 700 or so for those.

I've shot MK12's out to 1k. You're looking at around 19 MILS of elevation for 1,000M w/ MK262 from a 100M zero. The SMK's go transonic at a ~700M. They're pretty decent about staying stable but it's a challenge past that distance. It's a really good time though. I recommend it for a change of pace if you ever get the chance.

OP, sounds like a great rifle. The Varmints don't stand a chance.

You can get a 223 to 1k easy, well not as easy as other calibers but it'll get there anyway. I live in the hills to, the key is to shoot hill to hill for long distance in hilly terrain. Climb a big hill set up, shoot over little hills into side of next big hill, that how we always did it anyways.
