Most things have been covered already but the two things that stand out the most is the Redi-Mag and ACS. You should free up quite a few ounces by ditching them in favor of something else.

    1. Get rid of the Redi-mag and get a Surefire 60 round magazine.

    2. Get rid of the ACS and get a Magpul CTR or Vltor IMOD.

    3. Ditch the EoHell and get an Aimpoint PRO.

    4. Get a Surefire X300

    5. Get a Tango Down stubby QD or lose it all together.

You have a heavy gun due to the monolithic system. The 6940's are a little heavier, but of course they are silly accurate as well.
My thoughts exactly. When I ditched my Eotech 553 for an Aimpoint T-1 I saved 8 ounces (1/2 pound). The CRT or IMOD are also about 6 ounces lighter than the ACS. With the weapon light exchange and the stubby VFG exchange I bet you could knock off another 3-4 ounces. That equals at least a pound. I'm not sure about the RediMag vs the Surefire 60 rounder.

removing the ACS to save weight should be a lower priority, if you swap in a CTR/MOE its gonna feel front heavy with the stuff on the rail. Redimag is probably the biggest thing, a loaded mag is about a pound, not including the redimag hardware.

How do you use your sling? A proper fitting sling carriers the load

Barring a combat zone fire fight in Aghanistan (or similar) you don't need 60 rounds on the weapon. Switch to one 30, an AimPoint Pro and install a lightweight Plum Crazy lower and save 2-3 pounds. (weights estimated.) Mine as above weighed 6.1 pounds until I started adding more (mostly unnecessary) "stiuff"!

Sixty rd mags make the rifle heavy and less well balanced IMO, plus it only takes a second or two to do a speed reload of 30's.

Your base gun is the major limiting factor, but some accessory choices (as above) could help.

That's true when he's standing perimeter somewhere, but the sling does little when the gun is in his hands and shoulder.

I think Iraqgunz is all over it.

The Redi Mag along with a light, VFG, slings and mounts, BUIS, optics, etc.. starts to add ounces pretty quick. Especially with that 6940 upper. Albeit a quality, well made upper, it is relatively heavy.

Not sure the weight of a loaded SF 60 rnd mag but I too used to run a Redi Mod on my rifle. When I was looking to shave weight that was the first to go. I now run a standard 14.5" BCM mid-length upper with a Centurion Arms 9" rail, a SF Scout 600C in a GS mount, Magpul CTR, Aimpoint T-1 and a VCAS padded sling. My rifle weighs 9 lbs. 1/4 oz. with 28 rounds in the magazine. The rifle weighs 7 lbs. 11 oz. w/out a magazine inserted and the sling detached. The Centurion Arms rail does weigh a few more ounces than a Magpul Moe handguard but it allows me to use my preferred light setup.

I work plain clothes at a medium size department so my method of deployment and utilization may be different than yours. Like most everyone will advise you , look at your current assignment, your most likely uses and needs and go from there. I think all too often, in an attempt to be prepared for every conceivable scenario, we end up over doing it. It's nice to sit back, look at your gear and feel prepared but it doesn't always equate to "useable" in the real world. Not to confuse "useable" with "comfortable" but it definitely sucks being on a call, a perimeter, a search warrant or whatever and realizing you're carrying/wearing several pounds of gear and kit that you don't need.

I can't believe you're recommending a Plum Crazy lower on a patrol rifle. Those lowers shouldn't see anything more powerful than .22.
