shaving fractions of ounces at the middle of the gun isn't going to do much to affect overall feel. you need to lighten the front end. cutting the 16" down to 14.5 and perming a FH will be a start.

why 4 batts in the gun? why not 2 if you need them, and the rest on your gear?

try a MOE stock and put 2 CR batts in hand grip and/or duct tape a 2032 to a flat spot on your stock...

Stock- put the spare batteries in the grip
White light- pistol based like the X200 on a rail
    Optic- Aimpoint micro
VFG- ditch or go to something hollow or lower profile (AFG). I find for me the VFG gets in the way too much.
Mags- 20rd instead of 30rd. Also good for low profile if you have to get on the deck and take prone position.
I'm an FFL/gunsmith, not the holster company. We specialize in subsonic ammunition and wholesale rifles.

I keep my second Pmag in a slot on my vest. Reloads are a bit slower than one thats on the rifle but I always have my spare mag with me and dont have to think about it when I grab my rifle from the trunk.

It's minor, but maybe a Magpul MBUS 2 for a rear sight?
That monolithic upper doesn't look too light either, just saying.

Seriously, you are only going to be able to shave a few ounces, not pounds but I'll play the game.

    Get rid of the VFG
Get rid of the light and put a Insight M3, they are cheap and don't weigh anything.
Get rid of the Magpul stock and put the factory stock back on or look at an Imod from Vltor.
Get rid of the Ready Mag
Swap the Eotech for a T-1

while i'm not doubting that insight MIGHT make a good light, i'd go for the extra .88oz and spring for a streamlight tlr1 if we're going cheap. the streamlight can be had sup $100, is waterproof (not so sure about the insight), and has a proven track record.

You do understand that the Insight IS a Streamlight M3, right?

I was not aware... and, to be honest, I've never heard of a streamlight m3. upon further research, it appears that streamlight does not have the m3 listed on their site, although, i can find them via google search. is it possible that insight bought the design? either way, there no no claims of water resistance, etc. not that it necessarily matters. just sayin'. interesting to say the least. if you find any further information, i'd love to read up on the light. is the m3 the same dimensions of the tlr1?

Awesome! I am not the only one who learns something new here every day!

As I understand the history, Insight developed the light, then sold the rights to Streamlight. Streamlight then developed their TLR-1 and Insight started selling the light under their name, or something like that. The M3 is a basically (speaking very generally) a plastic TLR-1.
