With all the good advice being given, you had to bring up a junky plastic lower for use on a patrol rifle? I don't believe it...

    As far as the OP:

    Ditch the Eotech...

    Get a VLTOR stock...

Ditch the VFG (you really don't need one...)

    Ditch the Redi-Mod...

I handled a rifle with one of those... It had a Colt 20 round magazine in it, which I had to literally pull as hard as I could out of the lower receiver. It was STUCK in it. I decided to disassemble it to check out what the deal was with the receiver. So, not only was the lower receiver polymer, the hammer was too... The guy say he shot a few hundred rounds with it, and I could noticeably see a ton of wear on everything. Fit and finish was absolutely awful..

I'd also recommend a BCM LW upper with moe furniture, T-1/H-1, BCM has old Vltor modstocks on sale for $50ish.

Fit and finish is the last thing you need to worry about with PC lowers.

OP, I think you've gotten some pretty solid advice in this thread and I think you're smart enough to avoid certain suggestions. Unless you're going to replace the upper (and it's a good upper), the savings on all your other stuff will be marginal. First thing to go should be the stock. If you're set on the cheek weld, I would try a VLTOR or SOPMOD. Then stubby vfg, light, etc.

I get why you want the 60 rds.....and I think you're right - better safe than sorry. Maybe a compromise of using 20rd mags or a 20/30. You can also lighten up that Redi Mag. As stated, there's a new, much lighter one coming out. That or have someone cut on it (not that difficult).

Also, that EO should go. If you're set on that optic, you can always try the XPS version.

    My advice

    Use some or all.

    Starting from the rear....

    1) get rid of the extra batteries in the stock, get a Magpul MOE

    2) drop the EOTech and go for an Aimpoint Micro

    3) Rather than 2 X 30 round mags, go for 2 X 20 round PMags or other plastic... gives you 40 rounds to start the gun fight, and the advantage of a quick change of mags in case of a mag malf

    4) Magpul forend, or if you want to keep a free float barrel go with a Troy TRX

    5) Magpul forgrip, its hollow and short.

    6) sure fire X300 or (less$$) Streamlight TLR1.

Sorry I left the gun at work so I can't get the weight until I work Thursday.

I'd like to see a loaded and unloaded weight comparison if possible.

install a lightweight Plum Crazy lower and save 2-3 pounds. (weights estimated.)
Horrible advice. This is for a patrol rifle. Not a .22.
I can only hope that was a bad joke.
