That photo was from AR15.com.
Muzzle brake erosion is a common occurrence for SBR's. That's why you see exotic metals being used in devices like the KAC TT. I'd like to see what kind of erosion is happening in Battlecomps on SBR's and what type of steel and coatings they use in their products. It's a similar concept to the KAC product without the exotic metal. I haven't read of any issues though, so they must be using something pretty good.

Clobbersauras brings up a valuable point. The KAC TT is made of Inconel, the same material the baffle stack in KAC and AAC cans are made of. It's design is sheer brilliance because it not only acts as sort of a compensator as well as a flash hider, it also allows for the user to mount a KAC NT4 suppressor, and acts much the same way that the AAC brake does, but does better at suppressing flash than the brake mount, or even the brakeout mount, if memory serves me from when I saw a comparison.
I think that things like this definitely show the quality of what's on the market these days. Material and design has definitely made leaps and bounds probably just in the last 5-10 years, and that's stretching it.
We use heat treated 17-4 PH stainless steel in all of our Battle Comps. The Rockwell hardness is 42 minimum. It's a very robust material. It's also a challenge to machine properly.

"Indecision is the key to flexibility"
So both the battle comp and the AAC mounts are made from the same material.
I know this has been beat to death, but I would still like to see an AAC can compatable Battle Comp. Hopefully if we say it enough, someone will see it and catch on. The industry can only ignore the masses for so long when it's something that a lot of people want to see.Who knows, maybe there's some secret colaboration going on that we don't know about yet.
I'm with Viper. Or a Battlecomp-compatible AAC?
Making BattleComp suppressor adapters is the easy part -- developing partnerships takes some time, but they are coming along just fine. We would always encourage folks to contact AAC and let them know your desires. We would be very happy, like many of you folks, to bring a BattleComp/51T product to market. We would like to believe our existing partnerships have already borne fruit.
Also, please stay tuned for the new products being unveiled at SHOT 2012. We now have our own booth in the LE/Tactical Gear Section, #20068 -- at the top of the aisle near Magpul and Daniel Defense. We look forward to meeting folks, and we have been known to give away an item or two!
Just so everyone knows, BCE is pleased to announce we will have at least five new things to unveil, and they're not all compensators.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!
Be safe,
Alan

I guess my experience is different than most of you guys but that is not a significant amount of wear.

Its not @ all. I've had 2 PWS FSC556 brakes in the past. One with about 3500 rds through it and it looked probably a little worse than that arf.com sourced picture. Unless my groups started mystifyingly (new word?) opening up or the end of my brake flew off and keyholed an IPSC target @ 25 metersI would think of other things. Buy a good comp/brake and forget about it.
