AAC 7.62 SD or SDN-6 (newer)

I was reading the paperwork on the two above mentioned cans. It looks like you drop an inch and lose a couple dB's (2-4). Is there any other reason to get the SDN-6? SDN-6 weighs about the same or an OZ more. Difference in $$ not the issue.

Weight, mfg material, is about equal
    Lose weight-gain sound

From Literature: SD 19.1 oz, length added 7.25 inches
    SDN-6 19.85oz add 6.1 inches

    material the same inconel-316l SS

    Reduction
    SD 27-29 dB reduction
    SDN-6 25db reduction

I am leaning to the more quiet slightly longer AAC. I will be putting it on a LMT 308 with 16inch CL barrel. So its hardly my featherweight run and gunner.

    Gentlemen, your thoughts?

The SDN-6 is all inconel and came about largely from the .300 Blackout program. I think it would be tougher on a short barreled 7.62MM due to it's construction (similar to M4-2000).

That said I'm going with a 762-SD due to cost and availability (right now versus ??). This will initially sit on the AAC Remington 700 but will migrate to a LMT 308 and/or a .300 Blackout upper.....

    762-SD vs. 762-SDN-6

    'SD:
    51-tooth ratchet mount
    Inconel blast baffle
Stainless tube, stainless baffles, stainless endcap
    a couple dB's quieter on longer barrels - ≥18-20"
    $200 cheaper, widely available
    About .7 oz lighter

    'N-6:
    51-tooth ratchet mount
    All-Inconel baffles, including endcap
    Stainless tube
    a couple dB's quieter on shorter barrels - ≤16"
    1 inch shorter

So, the N-6 is the best choice for shorter barrelled and/or full-auto use.

On 300 BLK semi-auto, the main diff. is the shorter length and 2 or so dB.

Pappabear- the sound measurements in the catalog are not directly comparable as they are on different hosts.

They are available for sales through all our dealers now. The latest ship date I've heard is 3rd week of April.

My fingers are crossed. My paperwork is just waiting for a serial#.

If all goes well the SDN will be on my 300BLK SBR and 6.8 SBR by the end of July!

Sounds like "constructive intent". Sending email to BATFE now.

Ordered an n6. No matter how fast they ship, it's going to be a long wait. Really excited. I can't wait.
