    You moron-just kidding.
Oh wait, I've been right where you are now, looking at a junk rifle but glad to be alive, given the problems I was having. You're lucky man, it didn't end in a kaboom taking off your face

Next time buy quality, but you know that all too well, don' you?

I'm just happy for you - you realized that in the comfort of your own house while you were inspecting it - not somewhere worse after wondering why the bullets weren't going where they were supposed to.

I never said I was smart!

Seriously, yes I am. Like I posted earlier, I've inspected all the other components and it looks fine. I also have a bunch of spare parts that I'm taking with me, and some tools. I have over 3k through the rifle with no other problems. It's a lower round count class, where we are going to shoot less than 500 rounds in two days. I usually put about 300 rounds a session through my rifle so I feel like it should be fine. I'll post in this thread how it goes. If I had more time I would be able to sell it and get a proper rifle. Time is to short, so I'll have to use what I have.

That being said, I'm also bringing a VZ58 as a spare, just in case....

    I highly doubt it.

Like when I still purchased some KNS pins even after my research on here...it took a day or two of denial before I tossed them in the bottom of the parts box...

Had a look at it tonight. Pulled the gas tube to get a look at the barrel nut. It was so lose you could spin it off with your pinky finger.

Whoever put this thing together either didn't know what they were doing, or knew what they were doing and didn't care. It wasn't torqued down at all. Just spun on until it lined up enough to install the gas tube. I can't see how this step could be missed unless it was just gross incompetence or willful neglect.

The only thing keeping the nut from spinning off completely was the gas tube.

Soooo....I bought this rifle used with an unknown round count. I put 3k rounds through it without one problem. It was reasonably accurate; 2.5 inches or so at 75 yards from a bench and an aimpoint Micro. I wasn't overly impressed with the accuracy but I could ring the gong at 200 yds with it no problem and for close work it's been fine. Meh....

But.....the barrel was friggen loose! I have to say that I'm shocked it worked as well as it did, considering how bad it was.

Anyway, it's now torqued down to the proper spec. Everything is tight, the MOE hand guards fit better. I'm interested to see how accurate it is now!

I was Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, to buy this rifle!
