My Remmy 597 .17 blew up on the 5th round. A nice new 700 AAC-SD made my arm feel better.

I think your comparison is off base. If I bought a Kindle Fire from ebay and it showed up with a cracked screen or a battery that would not hold a charge then I wouldn't be expected to pay for the return shipping out of my own pocket especially when I paid for having it shipped to me in the first place, like I did with the MSAR. I bought the rifle and paid for the shipping. So when the rifle shit the bed, on the range, I sure as hell shouldn't have to pay to have it returned and "fixed".
So the rifle was bad from day one? I must have overlooked that part. In that case I would agree, but I also would understand that some manufacturers simply won't pay the shipping.

To use your Kindle analogy, if you dropped the Kindle, would you expect the manufacturer to pay return shipping? I sorta doubt it. And I thought that is the kind of situation you were describing.

I have sent many things back to SIG and paid the return shipping, the difference of course is they weren't bad from day one.

My apologies for being unclear. Yes. I bought the rifle and never fired it, literally wiped in down with oil and put it back into the case. Then when i found out msar was going tits up and I started reading horror stories about people in my situation who bought a ltd ed rifle never fired it for collector value and then decided to at least check it out and they had the same issues. So no this wasn't a weapon that I fired and it went bad on me. This was a NIB never fired weapon that performed dismally right out of the box.

Now for the SIG thing!! I think we're going to require some SIG porn from Steyr just to make everyone feel better......OH and if anyone out there has recieved their 551-A1 lower can you post a pic so we can get a look at them? (especially if you have a patrol carbine). I think the patrol carbine is going to look like a longer barreled SIG553. Since the 553's seem to have a barrel that's about 4inches longer than the 552s did.

    Thanks!!

    HK51,
Did you ever get a confirmation email from SIG? I ordered mine the day after the email came out and after a week I called SIG to make sure my order went through. The guy on the phone confirmed that my order was indeed in the system but my credit card wouldn't be charged nor would I receive an email until the lower shipped. Did the same thing happen to you or am I the only one?

I have the tracking number that was sent to me via email and it's scheduled to be delivered by end of day tomorrow. I'll post pics when I have it in hand.

That's really annoying because I'll have to call again tomorrow or the next day to check. All I want is a dang order confirmation email

I stand corrected, they charged my credit card today so I will probably get an email shortly.

That Swiss style lower really improves the look of the weapon. Seems like the upper, on the other hand, is usually the part that Sig tends to screw up on, which is a shame.

I'll let you know about that tomorrow, hopefull, I'm going to take it to the ranch and run a couple hundred rounds through it. If I like it I'm gonna buy a couple more 30rd and a few 20rd mags stick in a carry case and put in the back of my expedition. It'll become my new truck gun.
I just ordered a millet 1-4x24 scope and mount as well.
