Aside from the obvious benefits such as no roll pin stress and the longer life span of the CH, there is also the benefit of a straight pull back with one hand. If you take a standard charging handle and rack it about a hundred times you will see serious wear and tear on the right hand side of the CH from racking it with your left hand. Compare that to a Gunfighter, you will see hardly any wear and tear. Why?

Simple. With the standard CH you end up riding the latch more so than the actual handle. This puts a lot of leverage against the CH forcing it to rub against the upper.

When using a Gunfighter, the latch doesn't move as much because of the design, and therefore the force applied is more evenly distributed and the CH is pulled straight back. This means longer life of the CH and less wear and tear on the upper and on the CH.

Also the Gunfighter is a bit thicker than a standard CH and doesn't flex as much either. Overall the Gunfighter is arguably the best. If they could just somehow mix the GF and the GB charging handles you would have the pinnacle of charging handles (one CH to rule them all).

I've been wanting to get one and every thread I've read pretty much is just like this one. I'm going to get one soon.

I prefer the grip or hand and finger placement that I get on the PRI Combat Latch as opposed to the Gunfighter's latches. When the Gunfighters first hit the market a few discussions here with those behind the Gunfighters engineering led me to start modifying the PRI Combat Latches (not the Big Latch) to work in the same manner as the Gunfighter latches where all the pressure was removed from the roll pin with a modified PRI latch. IMO and this is personal preference I prefer running the handle better with the PRI type latch. This modification also removes any "pinching" problem that some people have complained of. Also a modification of the original GF latch can solve this issue for those who experience it. I also don't care for even the amount that the mod4 protrudes. Of course this isn't economical as you have to buy the GF and the PRI latch, then do the actual work.

After I remove the GF latches I will modify them and re-blue them and replace the stock latches on stock a stock CH so nothing goes to waste. Of course you don't get the engineering benefit of relieving pressure on the roll pin but it is a better grip. However the GF latch without the engineering can impart more pressure on the stock USGI CH, similar but not as bad as say a Badger.

I've been interested in these for awhile, but they always look like they stick out way too much and they would snap on my uniform/gear when the rifle is slung. Maybe the small version would be good, but then I don't see the benefit over the standard charging handle..

Thats exactly why they make 3 different mods.

It can be utilized for mission specific.

Dont want a "Kickstand" on your rifle?

The Mod 5 has a latch not much bigger than a stock Mil-spec latch

Although it's less of an issue with the newer versions, they can pinch. It's an unfortunate design error that they have "kind of" corrected in the current shipping models. I improved all of my older ones with about 10 seconds on a bench grinder and some aluma-black. They don't pinch. The newer versions are factory-beveled a little. That decreases the pinching problem but doesn't eliminate it.

Really wish they would make a version with the profile of the gas buster latch.

IMO, a similar option to the PRI Combat Latch is what the Gunfighter should be offered with. I very much prefer the PRI Gasbuster Combat Latch much better. Pretty much most everyone that I know who owns the GF and has tried the Combat Latch wants one. I would think it would be a popular option?

    This grip IMO

Is much better than this one.

I do tend to be very picky about fine tuning my own set ups for incremental improvements in my own positive performance. Every bit adds up.
