I'm glad this thread came up.

I'm thinking if putting a DD fixed on the 12.5" I'm about to start.

I only have folding sights now.

What about the LMT fixed? Is it okay?

I'll probably go with the DD

My Gen 1 MBUS has both apertures. Is yours Gen 2?

Yes. I didn't realized they had changed that from Gen 1 to Gen 2. I figured they had always had only one aperture.

Hmm. My Gen2 MBUS has both apertures.
I don't mean to insult your intelligence so please don't take offense. But you are aware that the small aperture is on its own hinge. That when its up, its kissed right up against the big aperture.

Ok so after fiddling with it I now see that the two apertures are right up against each other and fold apart. I never realized they worked like that before. I think I'll crawl back onto the short bus now and hide under the seat.

It's the same thing as a chopped off carry handle.

Good sight but it's pretty bulky and I don't see any need for the adjustment wheels. Who's really gonna dial in a buis for windage and elevation?

Indeed. Nice, but a bit too complicated for BUIS use.

A pic I took myself with a Comp M3 and LMT rear on a midlength setup:

As you can see, there's a lot that adds up to obscure the viewing field (made worse by the caps I had on), and once I sighted the LMT in for 100m, I ended up never touching the knobs. The DD with its low-profile mounting setup and A1 drum works just as well, but less "busy" overall.
