Rob, what exactly did you gain by using the DIY hook over the stock AK sling d-ring & hook?

    I don't have a stock AK d-ring and hook?

I also prefer, although I have no good reason for it, the flat ring of the DIY over the D-ring.

Jesus, I'm sitting here looking now and those pics suck. Gotta lighten 'em I think. Stupid light background + dark object = shitty pics.

    Good reason.

I'm a little surprised Lancaster ships their rifles without a sling though. Not a biggy but you would think such things would be standard: cleaning kit, sling, owner’s manual, one magazine.

No sling, no cleaning kit, no OM, one mag.

Good thing I don't clean guns.

The small DIY wire hooks interface really nicely with blueforce slings. The big ones are gigantic.

Much easier than just about any other option, unless you feel cannibalistic towards a combloc sling and have a pair of pliers handy whenever you want to take off, or put on the sling.
