Bow for beginners, what to get?

I'm sitting here trying to decide what to get my 9 year old sister for Christmas and all I can think of is a getting her a bow. I plan on building her a 10/22 someday but finances won't let me at the moment. So I'm think a bow would be a good route to start.

Just a little background on her, never been hunting... That will change. She is in girl scouts and at one of her camps she learned how to shoot a bow and that was all she could talk about when she got back. So she has some experience. I on the other hand have never handled a bow. I'm more of a rifle person. But I would like to get in to bow hunting someday.

So for everyone here that has kids, what kind of bow should I get to start her (and me) off with? Recurve? Compound? What brand? So forth and so forth. Also would like to keep it maybe under 200, 150 if possible.

And help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

A compound would probably be the easiest for her to enjoy. The pull let off and use of sights will make it easier shoot and hit quickly. Not sure what good brands are for kids but for a 150 price range used might be a good bet. My buddies new bow cost 150 for the sight and string just about.

A Mathews Genesis is a good bow for kids. It is a bow they can grow with for target shooting. They sell for about $160 -$250 or so new depending on accesserys . They also come in a lot of cool colors.
