To each his own. I don't expect my Yukon that I drive to work and haul 2 round bales a week to conduct professional hauling duty. I operate within the parameters of my equipment. It is always better to buy the best but that may not be reality.

My work rifle is different than one set for shooting 6 coyotes per year. The "cost" of failure is different for each.

I bet on a quiet night, if you sneak up and get real close to that Colt, you could hear it dry heaving...

It's not as if the R15 is going to fall apart if you put more than 500 rounds through it. This gun is not a combat gun, it's marketed to the hunting sector.

I'm not expecting to use my .30-30 lever action or .270 bolt in a "go to" duty role as their job is strictly for hunting, the same of which would apply if I had a R15.

I shoot less than 20 rounds per YEAR through my hunting rifles. 1,000 rounds would take FIFTY years to fire. I don't own one, I dont really need one, but I wouldn't mind using a Remington for strictly hunting use.

When you find your self fighting for your life with that old 30-30 you are going to wish you had practiced alot more than that with it.

You wont have to outrun me to get R15's.

Id pass over the Remington just as quickly as the next M4C inhabitant... But lets be honest... He will likely never have a problem with it and if its his money, let him spend it as he pleases. Worse comes to worse, he'll be able to sell it off for probably what he bought it for.
Believe it or not, not everyone buys a gun with the primary purpose of fending off the hoards.

I can't afford, nor do I have the time to practice with dozens of different of weapons each requiring its own skill set and manual of arms.

Carbines and pistols are what I devote my time too. Shotguns to a lesser extent, but that's hunting practice and competition practice.
