mk318 brown box or white box?

i have read a few threads on mk318 and the two different boxes it can be bought in. i have read alot of speculation stating things like "this one is factory reject" and "this one is for public consumption" but i have found no factual information. so which box do i want to be buying? white or brown?

Brown box is definitely military issue, based on the box markings (DODIC, lot number format). Whether the white box is factory seconds or marketed for LE, I couldn't tell you.

The white box, marked T556TNB1, is what is shipped to LE. The ATK LE rep I asked had never seen the brown box version, and had no idea where it was coming from.

Does the military typically buy 5.56 ammo in 20 round boxes?

so there is no problem with the brown box? it is not rejects? all i know is that the stash i have (very small) seems to be constant in appearance and velocity and is fairly accurate. however, i have read alot of speculation over this and the fact that brown box is typically $1 or $2 cheaper than white box leaves me wondering.

well that's what mine look like. that's the last driving band that the case is crimped at, followed by green sealant.
