Switching a DD lite rail to a larue 13.2 rail

I am thinking about switching from a daniel defense 12" lite rail to a larue 13.2 rail. My question is, would I have to replace or remove the gas block (low profile) and pinned flash hider to install the new/used rail? I am not trying to do major reconstruction just to change me rails out.

Yes you would have to remove everything from the barrel.

Also I would suggest not doing this. The current rail you have is superior to the Larue.

I cannot imagine anything where the Larue is better.

Damn, that suck that I would have to take everything off to switch over. I only want the larue because, it is thinner in profile and, I might get a suppressor one and would want it to be flush or close to being flush with rail system.

Orionz06 and kwelz, can you say why the DD Lite rail is superior to the Larue?

Superior, perhaps not, but I do not see how the LaRue is better or worth switching to. It is a heavier rail that offers nothing over the rail he has right now.

Lockup and anti rotation come to mind as the most important.

The Larue is a carry over from the early days of rail design. Like the DDM4 rail. It doesn't mean that they are BAD rails. But there isn't anything it offers over what you currently have except that 1.x inches. And if I was going to go with a longer rail I would chose a TRX extreme or an Alpha rail. But I would not suggest even moving to them.

The Larue rail has a thinner profile in general. I had the 13.2 and loved it, however it was sold to finance my 16" PredatAR 5.56. I will likely never use anything but Larue rail systems for the above reason.

Yes the gas block will need to come off either way because it must to install the Larue rail. Good luck!

The Larue rail is 2.00" wide and 2.10" tall vs the DD at 2.06"x2.42".
