    Thanks to everyone...
This is just another chapter in the "Pittbull's Life Story" book.
I got screwed again, i'm just glad i found people who could help, and would be willing to!

I guess i still haven't learned the whole "If it looks too good to be true..." thing.

I could tell said buddy to make the situation better, to reimburse me, etc., etc., but the problem is, now i know that something is wrong with the upper, i wouldn't feel right about the possibility of it going to someone else's hands in it's current condition.

Ironically... your buddy probably never thought anything was wrong with the way if functioned...

go sell that upper and go buy your self a factory upper made by a good company and go shoot it. And get a new buddy.. the one you have sucks....

funny that you say that...you aren't the first one to say that...If i get the upper back from gotm4, and he is able to fix it...i just might keep it, I don't expect anyone here to want to buy it, after this thread and all

    But you're right...

Sell it back to your buddy and call it a day. If he is indeed your friend he will make it right.

Could you give a detailed description of, or recreate the stoppage and take a pic of it?

I am interested in exactly where the bullet is interfacing to cause the stoppage. Is the stoppage the same every time or is it different? I can see from the scratched paint and the paint on the lugs where the bullet is scraping over the lugs, and it looks like brass skids on the "feed-ramps", so I assume that the shoulder of the case is bouncing upward, causing the bullet to slam into the barrel extension/barrel joint above the chamber, but I would like clarification.

I am not trying to do long-distance diagnostics, but am interested in the down-fall of "correcting" a non-M4-feedramped barrel.

    Thanks for your time.

I'll take some more pics, and maybe rec a vid, for reference, i don't have a great camera, and it won't be awesome quality, but i can do it.
I'll try later, my son's birthday is today, and we're getting ready for his party.
    Thanks again!

I picked up a barrel for $30 from a guy that did his M4 feed ramp grind and messed it up. He thought the barrel was beyond repare and was ripping me off for $30 LOL.
I was thinking of using it for a 22lr upper until I noticed the bad grind job.
I bought a new barrel extension and gave it a test shoot.
This barrel gives me .30 groups at 100yrds now and wont become a
    22lr now.

If my friend sold me something that he or someone else hacked up to the point it was that FUBAR and then sold it to me without full disclosure of why it was not working I would demand a refund. If I did not recieve one, I would be minus one person who I just THOUGHT was a friend.

That is a potentially dangerous (read: overpressure due to setback) situation. That would be like me selling my friend a case of .45 reloads because I used a powder like bullseye and was worried I double-charged one of them. That is just not cool. In this case, he KNOWS he "double charged" 'em, so to speak.

Solution: Save your time and money and confront your friend for a refund.

EDIT: your last picture shows what I belive to be the issue. The grinding, instead of making it a straight angle like this: "/" made the feed ramp curved, like the reverse of this "c" and the rounds are impacting in the dip in the "c" and jamming/being deformed. Again, if you don't REALLY want to mess with it, get a refund from the guy. That isn't cool.
