I got screwed again, i'm just glad i found people who could help, and would be willing to!

I guess i still haven't learned the whole "If it looks too good to be true..." thing.

I could tell said buddy to make the situation better, to reimburse me, etc., etc., but the problem is, now i know that something is wrong with the upper, i wouldn't feel right about the possibility of it going to someone else's hands in it's current condition.
Man, I know how you feel, but look at it this way. If you feel your buddy is bent on screwing someone by offloading this crap on them, then he is GOING to do it.

Now. We have come to the conclusion: SOMEONE is GOING to get ripped off.

    Period.

Let's use this example. COMPLETELY hypothetical.

You know that there is a thief stealing stereos out of cars in your neighborhood and he only steals 1 per night because he is worried about "alarming the neighborhood" or whatnot. So...do you buy an alarm for your car so YOU won't be the one a night, or do you put a sign on your car that says "Mine is unlocked and has a GREAT Rockford Fosgate sound system!" so as to prevent another of your neighbors from being robbed?

Ask your friend for a refund and tell him that he really needs to stop pushing his problems on other people because someone may not be as cool headed about their misfortune as yourself.

ETA: A victim mentality is more of a disadvantage than any other deficiency.

Your upper is in goods hands, gotm4 is The Man. If he can't fix it, he'll be able to advise you on what to do with it.

here is a pic of a Colt M4A1 barrel on a CMT M4 cut flattop upper... as you can see the transition from the upper to the feedramps in the extension is smooth and lines up perfectly...

Here are some pics from a TOS thread awhile back that is perfect for this thread...

First Pitbulls pic compared with my three pics below...

I hate to tell you Pittbull,, but I think your UPPER RECEIVER is RUINED, as well as the BARREL EXTENSION... That is some serious GOUGE work with a Dremel right there... From the pics, your receiver will never line up right no mater what extension you put on as there will always be a ledge to catch the feeding round... Even if it did work, I would NEVER trust that AR for self-defense use...

From this pic you can see where the TIPS of the bullets are impacting that swimming pool dremel cut barrel extension... This is one of the worst M4 ramp hacks I have seen ever....

I'm saving your pics under m4cuts_gonebad.jpg

From the pics, it looks impossible to fix that receiver. Once TOO MUCH material has been removed you can NEVER put it back again, except for something like an epoxy or JB weld, etc..., which I don't think anyone would recommend.

No matter what extension you use, the over-cut bevel in the receiver will ALWAYS have a ledge that could catch on a bullet tip.

You need to start preparing for the worst... If GotM4 can fix this one then he is truly an AR Armorer god...

While everyone is at it, notice the "made by a monkey with stone tools" machining marks on the barrel extension in general, compared to the Colt pics, or an LMT, or a Sabre (got two of the three sitting here), etc.

My German K98 has some non-essential bits that look like that, but they were having the crap bombed out of them by the 8th Air Force at the time. What's Bushmaster's excuse?

    Pittbull,

I got your upper today. I tore it all the way down removing the barrel from the receiver and FSB from bbl (I like starting all the way over 'seeing' everything).

I'm fairly certain that the upper receiver isn't a Bushmaster (the barrel is Bushmaster 1x7). Whoever cut the ramps cut them way too long top to bottom but didn't change the angle. M4 ramps aren't only longer top to bottom, the angle is also different. I recut, deburred, blended and then polished up and then reblackened the ramps. They look pretty nice now.

Some other stuff wasn't up to my specs so I removed your rifle extractor spring and blue extractor buffer and installed a Colt gold extractor spring, Colt black buffer and a Crane O-ring. I removed the carrier key and lapped the key, retorqued the carrier key screws and staked them with a MOACKS. I also replaced the gas rings with a new set and checked your headspace and firing pin protrusion (it's all good). It's feeding A-zoom aluminum snap caps just fine out of a new PMAG (I did it 30 times with 4 different snap caps).

I'll be test firing it on Saturday w/100 rounds.

I'll let you know how it runs. I'll try your CAR buffer and my H2 buffer (50 rounds each).

I do recommend that you run a H buffer with this upper. I find that Bushmaster 11.5" uppers run best with H buffers.

I too am UBER IMPRESSED!!!!! I thought for sure that upper was toast...

GotM4 is truly an AR Armorer god (little g... as only the big man gets a capital G)

Did you correct the ANGLE to M4 specs or just correct as much as needed to solve problem? Did you have to exceed M4 angles to correct? How do you measure the angle? By eye and experience? Some kind of gauge?
