Since it appears you are looking for an SBR I just want to recommend the Colt 6933 factory SBR without hijacking your thread. I have been very impressed with mine since I got it this summer. I decided the 11.5" was the shortest I want to go to ensure the most reliability possible.
Regardless what you do, research and make the best purchase you can for your purposes. And if you do get an SBR and need someone to handle the transfer, contact Benson Firearms in Yukon. Brandon can help you find what you want and is a great source of information during the NFA process.
I would consider a Colt if they were not an extra five to seven hundred more than the Rock River SBR, I already have a 16" tactical entry that has been an excellent rifle and that's why I'm looking at the RRA SBR in a 10.5". I've done business with Brandon before and he's a good guy to deal with!![]()
Thanks for your recommendations ZG!
Have you shot a 10.5 in 5.56 rifle? They are really hard on your ears if you don't have real good hearing protection on. The Noveske flaming pig is nice but, it adds so much length you could add a small suppressor or go with a longer barrel.
Good options for your SBR are the Noveske 12.5 inch upper or an LMT 10.5 inch upper. I went with a factory CMMG 11.5 inch model because the cost difference goes a long way to buying a suppressor for it.
The Colt SBR's are really nice but, they do carry a price premium.

I had heard / read about the loudness of SBRs and was also concerned - almost got a flaming pig to addrress this, before I even shot one. Got my 10" and it was not a problem. I use double hearing 99 percent of the time with Howard Leight foamies and normally a set of Howard Leight mickey mouse ears. The 10.5" is the same - not uncomfortable at all - indoors or out.
I've got a RRA factory 10.5" upper. It shot fine and it's not all that loud with hearing protection.
I recently bought and installed a CMMG 10.3" barrel in it though because I wanted a 1:7 twist so I could shoot 75-77 grain bullets through a suppressor without problems.
If you don't want to ever shoot heavy bullets(above 69 grain) then the RRA 10.5 is just fine. Mine even stabilized the Hornady TAP 75gr OTM at 25 yards. But I was afraid to risk a baffle or endcap strike with a suppressor so I switched to the 1:7 barrel for that reason only. Otherwise, I was happy with the RRA and will just keep it for an extra barrel.
I have a 10.5" with a KX3 on the end and it doesn't sound any louder than a standard 16".
Thanks for all the replys everyone, I know that the sbr's are going to be a little louder than a 16" rig. I was just wandering about the reliability of the RRA sbr's which I doubt there is any, but just wanted to make sure?
Thanks All!
K&R,
Take a look at the LMT 10.5" before you buy the RRA.
