I've had a SF M1 for a few years. It is a great little light and lives near my bedside and is one of the lights I take camping and when I fly/vacation. It replaced/upgraded my old E1. I didn't know about the different levels of output by twisting the end cap!
Looking at the descriptions in your links above the LX2 looks like the winner with a good balance of size and power.
