I just measured my Larue 9" rail and Centurion Arms 9" Rail

From the front of the rail to the front of the upper receiver the

    Larue was 9 3/16"

    Centurion was 9 4/16" (1/4")
Why do the loudest do the least?

That's nice looking Buckjay. How much does it extend past the end of the Switchblock? I'm curious about that for clearance issues.

I assume there are not any rails that will completely cover the switchblock? Obviously it would have to be a rail that could be removed easily, like the Troy (which will not fit over the switchblock).

The Switchblock is about as tall as the top rail. Also if you cover the Switchblock you will not be able to switch it.

If you guys check their site, you'll notice that weapons with the VLTOR VIS rails and SWB have what seems to be a shorter rail. For instance, on a 14.5" barrel, they have a 9" rail. Without the SWB, an 11" would probably work, but the SWB takes up just enough space that the two would not be compatible on that barrel length. This is something I noticed when ordering mine, I wanted the rail to extend out closer to the muzzle brake, but wanted the SWB more, so its a compromise. I could be wrong, but this was my observation.

Yeah, I Know that. I don't really intend to have a need to switch it quickly, figured with the right rail you could remove the handgaurd in a matter of seconds, switch it, and run my suppressor. For me, a longer rail with increased length is a better trade off than being able to switch out positions based on some time sensitive need.

The Switchblock is located about when i like to grip the handgaurd, so maybe it just isn't the best option for me....seems like a higher rail/ upper combo (much like the piston guns) would make for a great setup, might even be possible to make one that would allow for the can to recess into the rail. This works great for the pistol cal. SBRs. I have the talon, 9mm upper and it is a great little package.Attachment 11653
