First post. My 16" pseudo-SPR/Recce rifle.

And its accompanying "Trainer", which believe it or not, actually came before the chicken. The Sig 522 started out as a SWAT with a 16" barrel. I found a 20" for sale a year ago, and after installing it, started making changes to the weapon.

First, I added glass (to start, a Bushnell 6-24x40 Banner w/ Mildot ret.)
Second, I added a DDLES AR Buffer Tube adapter. And MOE with a 1/2" riser.
Third, I started deliberately applying "Match" ammo to the weapon, and eventually came to this conclusion through shooting at 100 yards, most recently on the 6th of Jan.

This was shot from prone, without a bipod, using my pack as a rest. I do not shoot with a bipod on this because the handguard does not freefloat the barrel. Loading the shit out of the bipod with this weapon doesn't make life enjoyable. Also, having to break my firing position down to clear FTF's leads to this with the group:

    Big difference.

    And then...

...came the "chicken". I traded my 700 Tactical in .308 for a pile of AR. The parts consisted of:
-Daniel Defense 1:7" 16" CHF, CL Barrel
    -EXO/Fail Zero Bolt/Carrier
-Sun Devil Lower (w/ stock "Milspec" trigger and MIAD)
    -Generic Brand(???) A3 Upper

I added a Magpul ACS, rack grade charging handle with a Badger TacLatch, a borrowed pair of Magpul MBUS irons, and a Midwest Industries 15" SS Handguard. The buffer/spring is nothing fancy. Rack grade crap I got at the local FFL.

I took a gamble with the 15" handguard, as I wanted to run a bipod up front, but still be able to run my hand in the same place, which was still way up front. I planned on using this rifle for blasting and printing groups at 100 yards, so, it works...don't have to swap uppers, etc, etc...

I added a Bushnell 10x Elite Mil/Mil (which, now resides up on the Sig 522...very repeatable and well tracking units, by the way..) with the intent to see if the 16" CHF Barrel I had was worth trying to work with. I ordered 50 rounds of 69gr SMK RunNGun load from Southwest Ammunition and got the glass installed and off we went.

    These are the targets:

And a shitty looking 10 round group after a cold range for good measure:

Good enough for what I wanted to do with this rifle. Which is learn.

    Latest Evolution.

Now with an IOR 10x42 MP8, and a SOPMOD/SAPR. Also added a Surefire G2X in a VTAC Mount, stippled KAC 11-rib with most of the ribs knocked off, an AFG2, an Atlas V8.1 and a PWS 556FSC. The only things missing are (maybe) a KAC URX3.1/Geissele 15" M4/Noveske NSR and a Geissele SSA.
