The only reason I could see myself getting a 300blk upper is for hunting pigs in Texas, or wherever me and a few buddies can find them.

5.56 will do on pigs, but I'd feel better with a bigger bullet. I guess that'd be my perceived need, a warm fuzzy pulling the trigger on a tough animal.

For a range toy, I don't get it, but to each their own.

Hey all...new member. Long time M4 & GAU/GUU5 user but new to civ market ARs. In the process of building a .300BLK myself and for me it was an easy decision...

This cartridge gives me 80% (or more) of what I want in a 7.62 or .308 round on an AR platform with a simple barrel change. Nothing more... I love that it gives me a heavier bullet with decent ballistics without having to buy an entirely different platform or component set.

Of course I'll still have a separate 5.56 gun in the safe as well!

    This is all wonderful information...

But this thread is about the industry conspiracy to get wide acceptance of a niche round.

The discussion should be about how so many companies jumped on board this cartridge.... when so many others new rounds have never got off the ground before.

Maybe I'm just over simplifying but sometimes a better mouse trap really does sell well.

That said, if we're talking conspiracy theories, maybe there will be a surprise when the piston guns get evaluated by Uncle Sugar. I'd love to see a return to something bigger than 5.56 for my carry weapon.

Ditto for my side arm. Hate my 9mm...well, don't hate it but certainly less than impressed with stopping power vs. over-penetration...and would love to go back to the .45.

    Maybe....

It just seems odd how so many companies launched barrels/upper and stuff right out of the gate.

When SIERRA came on board, I was stunned. I think of them as a legit company.

Next the Drug cartels in Mexico will be asking Obama to walk the 300 BLK to them.

Its an MP-5SD replacement that really can shoot past 100m.

There is HUGE .gov interest in this round both here and for Foreign SOF.

I have concerns about the interoperability between 5.56mm uppers and the round, but the capability for subsonic usage in a platform is very nice.

Lets keep the thread about the topic of discussion (300 BLK) and not deviate off into political satire. This site has a conduct policy that everyone is expected to know and agree to before posting, so if you cannot handle that, refrain from posting here. Consider this an informal warning from me, the next one will be very formal.

    Thanks
