The NSR 13.5 turned out to be a perfect excuse to cut and pin my brake. Just got it back from ADCO with a SF MB556K and NSR on it, and it's beautiful.
I'm 5'11", but I have short, T-Rex arms, and can still comfortably reach to the end of the rail...though about 2" back is more comfortable and allows me to mount sight & light forward of that so that my thumb can comfortably get behind them--this was always an issue with my old 11" TRX-E rails (that and trying to mount-move-remount-repeat the rails as I laid under the rail trying to balance everything). ;o)
In the spirit of the lightweight rail, I traded my STR for a CTR (though I may go back to an LMT/B5, which are almost the same as a CTR), ditched my EXPS for a T-1 (though after using a T-1 for 6 months, going back to EOs was weird anyway--a super fast reticle had become a bit too busy for me), and moved the TLR1 off for a GS mount with a 1xCR123 230lm.
The rifle's lost a pound or so (now if I could just lose 30, all would be right with the world).
Pics as soon as I get everything together (first post).
ETA: Okay, now that I've had a chance to install the rails, I can confirm, some rails are thumb-breakers...I thought people just had weak hands ("I just can't get the last round in the magazine"), but I had one handstop (small rail cover) that took 4 or 5 minutes to get on. I have a feeling that with a mallet and other tools and stuff, it could have been easier--can't wait for someone to discover the "easy-on" method.![]()
